I would like to say big thanks to you , Alex for great effort to help to fix my TT . Hope you can help other members in Melbourne , too if they need you . We really need more member like you . Cheers .
no problem man anytime , it was i big job but we got there in the end , just need to clean up some more things and thats it .. great work ..
full plenum pull +cam covers leaking oil . + more it was in a bad way no power, running like shit. noisy, fuel leaks , leaking oil everywhere, wiring problems , o2 problem , exhaust leaking , boost leaking like crazy . injectors where plucked . it had a plenum job done by the last owner . but its all good now back to what a zed should be like . heaps of power . plus more to come , when we sort out the boost controller and some (now) small things . motor runs great now . there is more thing i done to it , but yeah
Ok , the problems were : car did not have much power , although running 14 pound of boost . too many boost leak ( i did not know until Alex perform the boost leak test , should do it in the first place , lol . car run rough on cold start up . Zost leaking some where , but couldn't locate exactly where it is . Slow oil leak on cam cover ( fixed ) . Bad fuel consumption ( ~ 20 litters / 100 km ) . Now , My car run much smoother than before , more power and responsive , ( boost set as the same 14 pound ) . Improving fuel consumption . Well , these sort of problems are not easy to find and fix . they would require a experience Z person ( rule out normal mechanic to work on the Z ) , that why we Newbie seek help from experience members like Alex , and we appreciate all the help from other members . It all , make a better Z community . Cheers
How's that SPAL fan and shroud going? It's much easier to work on the front of the engine without the big fan assembly there.
Alex is a great bloke, has helped me many times, and saved me plenty of cash along the way the first bloke i call if i have a problem thats for sure
Thanks Mitch , the Efan set up which you sold to me work very well in my car . the highest temp I could see is 87 degree , on stationary the fan help to keep temp stable at 76 degree . SPAL is most reliable and efficient fan , that why it is expensive . And you right , plenty room in front of the engine now , and it release few more HP , too .
thanks guys . i appreciate it . 15 years with zeds , you can pic up things here and there. i work from home and for me this is the best part of it , i have all the time i need to get it fixed with out trying to push it out the door to get the next car in . so my work is good and done the right way . i have had one zed go out and come back a week later with a plenum pull again, due to a bad plenum (plenum itself ) but i fixed that as well 1 bad zed in my book is a good effort in all this time . when they come in shit, they go out good or better ..
mitch that SPL fan set up is nice , i really liked it i may build one for me , when my next build is due , ill add that to the list . it seems to work verry well , great work . i hope you guys don't mind if i copy the design. keep in mind that dinh300zx had some water leaking out from the back water hoses ( fixed ) and it seems to still keep it cool , so i think we might be on a win win with this set up .
Go for it, but keep in mind that the depth of the shroud will foul on the accessory belts for anything over a 43mm radiator core. This could be overcome with a shorter shroud section (less volume) or mounting the fan on the inside face of the shroud and making the join airtight. As others have suggested in threads on this matter, using some sort of rubber flaps which open up at higher ram-air speeds might improve highway temps, and be sucked shut when fan pressure exceeds ram air pressure. PM if you want some ideas for spal fan shroud v2.0
I have not seen version 1 yet but it sounds like it's the goods, mind PMing me details about the V2.0 as well? Thanks Peter
