    Hi folks,

So just returned from a drive and see oil marks all over the road...jacked up my car to check source of issue see oil piled under the car all down the exhaust pipes and then spot the issue...

There is an oil line running directly into the sump and over the top of the steering rack...Right where it runs over the steering rack it is severly frayed and has pissed oil everywhere :(

    Mega UNHAPPY

How do I fix this issue?

And where does this oil line run too

Any Help would be much appreciated as I need this fixed ASAP!

Are you sure it goes into the sump ?

What colour is the fluid ?

If its hard to tell, wipe some up with a bit of toilet paper.

On a T/T the lines run from the sump to the oil cooler. How do you fix it ... buy a new hose ... remove the knackered one .... fit the new one making sure its not rubbing on the steering rcak

Yes, line comes directly off the sump and did some poking around just then and it looks like it runs into the bottom of the block or possibly the turbo very hard to tell tight for space...Its on the drivers side and the line runs from the sump over the top of the steering rack and then beneath the drivers side turbo...definently engine oil...its blackish-brown and smells like engine oil....any clues? looks like I just need to replace the hose but have no idea what part it is and hopefully hasn't caused any further damage.

    EDIT:

A very long turbo oil return ?

A part number for what ?

I think I get it now, there is just a hose from the filter tree to the return on the sump and its hooked up on the steering rod and looped up over the turbo ?

The part that is missing is the whole oil cooler setup.

What you need is a length of suitable high pressure oil hose to get from the barb on the oil filter tree to the sump, but better routing organised, as a short term fix.

But check it all out to make sure thats what they have done and not included any thing else.

How much oil on the stick ?

Sounds like the oil lines have been looped to bypass the cooler plumbing doesn't it?

If it was me I would drop the oil, remove the faulty line and take it down to your friendly neighbourhood auto store. They'll be able to match hose type and diameter. Get a longer piece than you need so as you can re route if needed.

Maybe get some stainless zip ties and some p clamps so that you can secure the hose... No need to have this happen again!

Oh where'd you get the TT conversion done?

Oil turbo return or looped it off the filter treee like Rob said.

Cool i'll have a crack at it today...cheers for all the helpful replies btw. So the "loop" for these lines will essentially run back into the block I'm guessing? and the conversion was done at UAS rob

No probs dude. If it was me I'd be on the phone to John and ask how it's been plumbed up!

Yes the oil will have to circulate but if you go about it like I suggested pull the sump end of the line off first and you should be able to work out where the other end goes. Just empty the sump first!

Oh and I was an idiot to suggest using stainless zip ties on rubber hose! Either sleeve it and zip tie or use p clamps.

If it is just looped and has no oil cooler, just plug both the sump and oil filter head, there is no point having them plumbed up if there is no oil cooler, also you will be loosing oil pressure as the restrictors are no longer in the system as they should be.

    Problem Solved!

Checked the line...ran to the oil filter tree as mentioned above...

Drained the oil and got the filter off, took the old line to repco and got oil, filter and replacement line...got home changed to new bits and went to work!

Busy and stressful, got too love Z's!

Just happy the bastard isn't stuffed, had enough issues already *Sigh*

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Oh and P.S. not blocking it off mainly because I'm investing in an oil cooler ASAP
