Just got back from Berri via Adelaide tonight, so here's a late post! Another great weekend (Riverland Motorsport Club Show 'n' Shine) and an opportunity to catch up with the SA guys ('n' gals). Jack (ZXTT-1) and I attended from Victoria, and for once were outnumbered by the SA crew. And for the first time in 5 years I WON A TROPHY! OK!, so it was only for the greatest distance traveled (Jack-705km, me-706km), but a dust-collector is a dust-collector! Drove up on Friday, arriving in Berri about 4:30pm. Catch up with the SA crew, and start cleaning the cars. I had mine washed and polished on Thursday. Rain from Melbourne to Bendigo didn't help, but travelling behind a cattle truck for 5km literally saw it covered in shit! Stank of cow-poo and -pee for the rest of the day! Saturday! Up at sparrow-fart (known in polite circles as dawn-o'clock!) to polish the cars before the heat of the day could spoil the effect! Discovered that we were surrounded by (shudder) Ford enthusiasts! Onto the display ground by 0930. Regardless of what you think of Show 'n' Shine events, there were some fabulous vehicles on display, ranging from a 1937 Chev to current model Commodores and Falcons, and including 'grey' imports (us), hotrods, dragsters, motorbikes (-cycles), a couple of speed-boats and pretty much whatever else you can think of. Over 80 display vehicles! Anyway - the Zeds: Tony Jenke took out "Top Japanese Import" (Ant-J (Bad 300)): and top display, simply because he (and Tania) parked their car over some sort of Halloween-pattern material, with fabric 'witches hats' at each corner. Seriously, of all the other entrants, some put up rope fences around their cars, but Ant and Tan were the only ones to come up with a coherent display theme (including spiders in the engine bay!)! Runner-up was Jarrod's (Audiobuzz) Pearl white 2+0: Wes and Melissa were there: Best ever cargo cover design, but, sadly, no bananas! And Jack: And me: New forum members Amanda and Chris turned up as spectators, with Manda's sweet NA Slick. Jack gives it the 'once-over' Then so did the rest of us L-R: Melissa, Tania, Chris (headless), Amanda, Wes, Isaac, Anthony. Also there was this blue one: And a burgundy one which was being used as a tow vehicle. More pics follow... there's too many for a single thread!
Looks like you guys had fun and did well. Still couldn't drive all the way to SA just for a show and shine show im afraid if it was in Vic them id be coming too. Great work on the display and trophy's.
Looks like it would have been a nice time over there That last blue Z looks very clean and well looked after like the rest of the aus300zx crew! Did you get to speak to the owner about the forum?
Congratulations on the trophy Doug. It's about time someone acknowledged your contibutions to tasteful motoring. I think that's the first Ausspec to win one. I hear Jack's decided to move a couple of suburbs further out LOL: Looks like a good time. Cheers, Peter
Thanks to all for making it such a good weekend. It was nice to catch up with every one and talk zeds and crap as well see you all there next time.
Congrats Dougy on the dust collector, I wonder how far out Jack is planning on moving...?? Looks like it was a good turn out, we WILL make up for it next year, well that's if Pete doesn't have cause to put the Zed back up on a damned hoist...... Nice to see a farmiliar face at the event, Jarrod.... Some nice looking Zeds and some evil looking Rods. Hope you all had a blast....
It's more an excuse to catch up with the SA crew (well, some of them anyway) whom we would otherwise never get to meet face-to face.
At least the weather there was better than where you were! Most of us got sunburned to a greater or lesser degree. Now for some piccies, especially for you!
Berri '08 - The Orange Collection There's a supercharger under there somewhere... It's an HQ, Jim, but not as we know it... Top Car of the Show... Check the size of that turbo... Shaker hood as a safety feature when your bonnet lifts at xxxkph?
Berri '08 - Some Random Goodness... Check out the spare 'ponies' on the firewall... For those who like their bling on two wheels... This one was turbo'd, and the first one was running NOS! No Dyno this year, but the Band was pretty dynamic...
Ooooooooh, a special section just for me! perhaps i should become ORZM instead of RZM ..... Were there any Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow? Nice collections of pics Doug. I'm hoping to be there next year, perhaps featuring in the Rerange collection, or should that be the Ored collection??? I'm also further away than you, although myself vs the Wykkeds would be a close run thing ...
