thats only the first couple of inches, it looks like they dont put much effort in with the finish in that area either way
Just stay positive, Martin! Keep it focused on what you want done and everything will into place. All the best with the rebuild... Arvin :zlove:
Thanks Arv With any luck I'll have my engine in and out in two or three days! With any luck... UNI IS OVER PEOPLE. IT'S ZED TIME. I HAVE FOUR MONTHS AND TWO DAYS UNTIL ZEDFEST. I WANT TO FINISH THIS BY THEN AND DRIVE IT THERE!
Straight to work on the Z... nothing good really as I'm saving. Finished the targa surrounds work though: Also got: - Spare OEM nose panel, might modify it, might not. Plan on getting at least two sprayed - New interior light lens because mine was bubbled and cracked - Single driver's side shagpile floor mat because it was free - Black number plate relocation bracket Sorry, no real news. wait 'til next time. -A
getting that itch to actually do something Had to find something to do to the Zed today, all this lack of progress is killing me. So I went to pull out my AIV's! Only got one done 'cause I got sidetracked, but made progress none the less! My AIV's were already disconnected, just had to remove them. When I got down there, I ended up removing everything I could from Starting out, just using factory jack Wheel arch off (5 screws or so) this is what I removed. The AIV is pretty much... everything you can see bar loom and the big red aftermarket amplifier power cable. Four 10mm hex bolts and it's all gone. Now this left a problem... with no arch liner there were a few parts of the loom (and the dodgily installed amp cable) flopping around, which is realllllly bad when you're planning on installing some fat wheels and dumping the shit out of the coilovers like I am. So I hopped to removing what I could and loosening up then tucking away what I needed. Here's how we're looking 1/2 an hour later. The yellow tape on the right is me taping up some unprotected parts of the loom. It won't make it waterproof, but hopefully it'll be splash proof. Here's what was done for anybody that will be attempting the same... really easy stuff. The AIV actually proved useful to an extent as it left an unused bracket (far left) for me to tuck and tie behind. Circled in blue is where the loom was bolted to originally. I actually put a few ties together and tightened them around the lower door hinge in order to have something to hold the loom away from the wheel well (bottom right in red). With any luck this will keep all that stuff out of the way. The fender lining will be going back on I've decided, but I'll be cutting most of it away and sikaflexing what I do need (just enough to cover the loom) straight onto the inside of the fender/wheel arch. Can't use the original mounting holes on the edge of the fender as they'll have to be cut off before the guards are rolled. The offending crap removed: Still got to grind the tabs off the inside of the fender before rolling them. I'll do the other side later in the week -A
sooooooooooooooo... as you all now know my daily just got destroyed by an absent-minded driver and I spent the night in the emergency trauma ward... this in theory would slow this build down naaaaahh! F*CK YEAH OEM RECAROS w/ rails, and no rips, tears or stains. my gentleman's area hurts. peace. -A
Hell yea martin, you just got me excited about my zed all over again! Those seats are mint. Just started using jessestreeter, hes awesome to deal with. When are you putting the rims on? Youv got coils so why not? Matt
He's good hey! Got me my Ganadors. I wish I knew about him when I got the Evolution... Import Monster really raped me with importing costs. Just need tyres and stud pattern adapters. They'd be going on in a week or two (next thing happening) but until I find out if my bike is getting repaired or not I need to save some money incase I need a new daily. If it's written off I'll be paid out, but how much remains to be seen. Uploading the photos of the wreck right now on facebook. Have a look dude.
minor news haven't done too much, pretty sore recently from my motorbike accident. Finally got my recaros in. sorry just cameraphone pics, don't have my girl's DSLR at the moment. they look awesome next to the ganadors: also, massive derp that I completely forgot to bold the seatbelt receiver things to the sides and had to pull the driver's side out again :\ also got some clear side indicators for $25 which is pretty cool. they're second hand unused, the ones available from the UK originally. I hadn't heard you could grind out the housing and use the original bulb holder so I'd already cut mine off to relocate my parkers. No big, soldered in. gonna have something unique to post up in a few days. hold your breath! -A
Sorry guys, I don't have the DSLR at the moment Just my cameraphone. I'd rather wait than put up crappy pics. In other news, put my Zed up on stands tonight and yanked all the coilovers out in preparation of a new set Changing from Tein Super Streets to Tein HA's, for "moar low". The SS's are great coilovers, but not suited to those that want to go excessively low. Also had a crack at rolling my own guards. So far it's great! 1.5 guards in ATM with no issues at all. Just heating it with a blowtorch and smashing it away while pressing up against it on the other side so it doesn't deform. Inner edge is flat as a tack and outside looks OEM. Perfect :zlove: Photos soon! -A
