HPA tuned car only did 10.6 or there abouts >

my 89 zed did 10.39 something on nitros as well might get some qualifying tyres see how that goes. as far as the usb compact flash reader worked fine for saving pics to and transfering to pc.

Yeah... exporting to USB works well.

My 98Zed on laughing gas run 9.7sec. Fully worked M5 runs 9.9sec and my 844kw R34 GTR can only run a 10.3 - but its spinning all the way through the 1/4! haha

I dont know anything about this but my assumption is ruf is like a "mines"

type company where they get a factory car mod it and label it their brand and sell it. Big names like ferrari lambo etc. are not in gt4 for some reason, porsche is the same case imho and ruf was the loop hole to get porsche vehicles in without conflict.

Any one up for GT4 online

i'll probably get my copy of gt4 tommorrow and put wheel on order. Seeing we have a fair number playing gt4 anyone up for online play? If there is a few guys keen i'll buy a network adapter and join in. All you will need is decent bband connection and a pc to run freeware third party program. For those that will be up for a gt4 day each week?.

    1.what is your upload speed?
if we are going to run 6 player racers etc we will need someone with real fast bband upload to host.

ferrari's & porsches aren't in the game due to licensing issues

as the already have their respective games aswell like porsche challenge held by ea games etc... shame really although i just bought a RGT and man this thing can drift...hehehe Yeah RUF is a well known tuning house for porsche, check up some of the monsters they have created....bloody brilliant

JETzx, i have heard that the ps2 has to be connected to the pc and

you run it through the pc's internet connection, is this true? do you know what hardware the pc would require for the connect? just a simple network card or something else? i'm keen to give the online option ago.

I know that unlike other ps2 games which support straight online connection GT4 has some difficult but achievable methods of online gaming.

i aslo heard somewere that all tuned cars revert to stock form when playing multiplayer, but i suppose that would be even the competition.

I also found a bug in the game.... it makes no difference what power unit u choose the game to show your vehicles in (kw, ps, hp etc) as it still shows the exact same figures. my N1 GTR shows power rating at 410hp as well as 410kw?!?!? this is a bit of an oversight for the developers. i don't think it detracts from the game...... i think i might go play some more now :)

    hey archie

yes that bug has commonly been picked up on judging by the discussion on other car forums.

To avoid others being confused gt4 only offers lan play. However with a clever program and running on your pc, you can connect a lan game with the rest of the world while ps2 is still thinking its just a local game. Judging by the results posted on other kai link forum, its pretty evident why gt4 was not released with online mode. There is so much lag that you really need good connection, so my guess is GTxx online released later on in the year will just ahve toned down detail to support online play (bloody sony just ripping us off again like prologue etc). As for the car garage thing, im not 100% but that was a us problem, im pretty sure we can race our full tuned garaged cars (which will be insane).

As far as i know judging from my limited research yesterday (was getting excited about buying the game), you wont require any additional hardware, you prob have everything already. If your modem connects through your pc then network goes to your card. If your pc connects through router then ps2 connects to the router.

for more info on online play go to kai, they also have a forum.

for world wide gt4 forum go to racing sim central

Got questions about the dfp for you archie, how are you getting used to the wheel? i heard some complaint about how a steering mechanism is too slow and can not counter steer as fast as a joypad. Is this the case or is the guy just 'babying' his wheel too much.
    Cheers
    Pat

    I haven't done any research on network play;

But I'd say the "special" software is to create a bridge between the LAN and internet connections so that the PS2 thinks its still a LAN game. Can anyone confirm?

    quikly answer quest

    extracted from the kai FAQ
    how does it work?
"For those people that really want to know, here's a quick briefing.

Your console uses the connectivity between your PC or Mac as a "tunnel". Data is sent from the console, to the PC or Mac, sent over the Internet through XLink Kai to the receiving PC or Mac, and finally sent to the receiving console. This happens in both directions so many times per second that you just have to believe us.

So you then ask, how is my console detecting these games over the Internet? Well these games are using standard Ethernet networks to transmit data. As long as the connection is strong and stable, your console is tricked into thinking the consoles it is connecting to are right there within the same house or building, when in fact they could be sitting 2000 km's away in another continent..."

    What do you need?
    " * A PC running Windows 98 / 98se / ME / 2000 / XP or Linux; or a Macintosh running OSX.
    * Either an XBox, PlayStation2 and / or PSP
    * An active broadband Internet connection (56kbps connections may work for some games, but we don't recommend it at all).
    * A network connection between your console/s and the PC or Mac. This could come in the form of a router (wireless or non), 2 NICS (Network Interface Cards), a wireless connection or even a combination of switches, hubs and other networking hardware (see: 2.0 Networking and Firewall Questions)
    * An XLink account (your XLink username is your XTag, similar to the XBox Live GamerTag™). You can create your account here.
    * The XLink Kai client available to download here.

Once you've checked all those off the list, it's time for you to visit the Quick Start Guide."

excelent.... i'll check out that info.... as for the dfp at first i was....

having some difficulties, and even now i think i baby it alittle too much, but just like with a real car, you gotta put a bit of elbow grease into it, cause it takes a bit to spin the wheel to get opposite lock and the force feedback is not a great help in getting that effect.

But if its realism you want, the wheel is the way to go...and if you've seen some of the pics ive posted, you'll see drifting isn't a huge problem, once you get the hang of it.

Just got the game today gotta wait next week for the wheel

this game is pissing me off with the license took me so long just to get b national, not because its hard but because theres so many useless tests.

Took a few cars for a hoon around ie ford typhoon, lightning truck, ruf, r31 sky, pretty cool, but i cant do donuts? even Gt3 has a better attempt of donuts. Cant wait til i can afford a ford gt that car is hot shit (wonder if it sounds just like the lightning lol).
