Hi guys Was driving around Melbourne today and these dodgey guys heading the other direction and in traffic tried to get me to pull over and sell me some too good to be true stereo speaker for home, naturally told them to turn them sideways and put them where the sun dont shine, but be aware its a big scam thats now hit australia. The speakers are apparently really crap. Apparently their target group are males up to 35 years of age, driving a flash car (guess they assume plenty of moolah). www.scamshield.com/Feature.asp?id=1 This was in Sydney road Coburg by the way. Regards Mark
Yep - tried suckering me in when I young and impressionable....... and even then I told 'em politely to get fkd. "$2000 speakers for only $200 mate - if you don't have the cash we can follow you to the bank, blah, blah, blah....." Yeah - I'll take 2 speakers and 1 lobotomy you dipshit. A-holes like the guys that do this type of stuff really shit me:thumbsdown: Good on you for the heads-up though Markga. CheerZ Vincent
Should have offered ==> A personal cheque for the speakers then we would see who would have last laugh haha. Didnt know this has been going on for 30 years wow! Regards Mark
I've had two proposals about this... One along Batman Ave while on a jog and a second time in Bundaberg...
what i heard:- i heard that after you buy it they offer free delivery.. and when they get to your place they clean you out.. thats what heard.. they were in townsville a while back..
Seen this one twice, funny story behind both About 6 years ago I was walking out of a shopping centre and they tried it. I said I wasn't interested etc and obviously the guy didn't take no for an answer so I said I had no money. He drove up to the end of the parking lot and I walked over to my Z, he slammed it in reverse and just about red lined it backing up to me, pointed at the Z at started going off at me about how I said I had no money (this is back when Z's were still a bit of a novelty for most people). Incident 2, was in the Z at some traffic lights with Craig (workmate) in front of me in an SW20 MR2, uber modified, a near 10 second car. Two REALLY good looking chicks pull up next to me in a van and start talking to me with the window down pushing stereo gear. I wasn't actually interested in the speakers, but hey, I'm a guy. The light turns green and Craig ahead of me has obviously seen all this going on in the rear view mirror so he opens up the MR2, loud as the apocalypse with the atmospheric wastegate and even to the untrained eye clearly very, very fast. The girls in the van watch this, giggle and drive off to catch up with Craig and talk to him. It was one of the most ego crushing moments of my life Ben
got asked at a servo on bell street preston they stopped when my mate was feeling up in a white van and asked if we wanted some we said nah no thanks and they kepted at us pretty much in the end said no and my mate walked in to pay for the fuel. Nath
red ..was about to be a lot ruder, when i saw your post .... spot on ..!!! ..suppose you do "fuel up" after a 'FEEL UP" ..!!!
they're just selling cheap speakers and letting you believe they're really good. they make it seem like they're stolen, or along those lines, so you think you're getting a bargain, when really they're cheap shit. had them try to pull the same shit on me at monash uni carpark. nearly talked them down to some ridiculously low number (from $1200 to like $150), which is what i would have paid for them (would have been worth it at that price), but they wouldn't budge on the like the last $50. was a bit of fun actually. glad i didn't walk away with them. this same operation has been around for ages. in my dads day, they used to do the same thing with cutlery sets. if anyone actually bought these, and isn't happy with their purchase, you can actually get your money back apparantly. do a search on local google.
hahah smart ass red. Just proves i dont look at the keyboard and look to see if there is any errors LOL. Yeah anyway was kind of sus they come out of no where and it was only 10am when it happened too just down the road from work. Nath
An oldie but a goodie. I got baled up in Coles carpark in Clayton 15 years ago. I was tempted then myself, only because my house speakers consisted of 8" subs as drivers that I was constantly blowing up and replacing from Stathfield for $12 each
The guys i came across were trying to pedel entire entertainment systems, speakers, subs projectors + screens the works... All legit of course haha BS. Oh, and all for a measly price of $2000 neg, But they were willing to take the $1200 my mate offered as a joke.
