Hi all, I Was wondering who has removed there battery tray and what was involved? Is it just glued in or spot welded in as well?

Yeah spot welded, pita to remove.

Best to drill out each of the spot welds. Will need to remove the guards.

cheers. The guards are off and engine is out so I have the best access I will ever have lol. So I take it that patience and a good drill bit will be the key to this.

I found it too hard to identify where the spot welds were.

I used a hammer and chisel and kept peeling back each section with a pair of pliers. At some point you'll be working in too closer of an area and may need a grinder.

Get a grinder out and cut out the bulk of the tray; this will give you extra vision to where the spot welds are. Then drill them out. That's what I did, but then again mine was so rusted pulled the bulk of the tray out after hammering a chisel through and flexing it a few times.

Use a step drill bit, makes getting the entire weld out easier/faster.

All good tips. I can be rough on the tray as I wont use it again but the less mess I make on the body the less I will need to repair. My battery will be relocated and I have already made the new bracket.

You can always just snip it and fatigue the welds. They snap out pretty clean.
