Battery and ABS warning lights

    Had a little problem emerge...

After having the car parked outside in heavy rain,
the battery and ABS warning lights came on.

Carefully watching the voltage of the battery, it indicated no loss in charge whilst driving after that. Got the car home, and warning lights did not come on again.

After not driving the car for about a week, my father drove the car (on a dry day) and reported to me the same warning lights coming up.

The "grill" on the battery side is non existent which probably did allow water to get into the engine bay around the battery area, although unsure if it is directly related.

The problem seems intermittent and have checked and cleaned battery terminals. Alternator on its way out?

    Anybody had a similar experience?

    Thanks in advance,
    J.
