Seems I just had another rear passenger side turbo water hose leak on a zed :bash::bash:

What sort of long nose pliers / apparatus are people using to get to the lower clamp on this hose from underneath when a workshop hoist is not available? I have average/large hands unfortunately.

The longest pliers I've been able to find are 16 inches which should be long enough. Anyone found any longer pliers?

That bastard hose requires battery out, obviously, then removal/relocation of anything to facilitate easier access. A 30degree bent long nose from SuperCrap should do the job ... and a pack of bandaids. ;)

Edit: I seem to recall removing the intermediate hard pipe section altogether on one job.

I do it with the battery out and a normal pair of long nose pliers, it is a pita but quite doable. As Rob said, also bypass the short hard line at the back of the engine aswell, gets rid of another couple of leak points.

    Viagra for pliers

Reasonable quality for the money. Jaw leverage is certainly lower than std pliers but fine for their only purpose of slipping the water line spring clamps on and off. Certainly long enough. The standard Supercheap long nose pliers are in the pic for comparison. Can't wait to try em out at the next PP&P. Will keep you all posted.

    No more blood and bruising:zlove:

Good stuff Mark. When we replaced 'the bastard hose' on HaylZ Z, I think it was cbzx who had on hand a set of those groovy long pliers with the bent jaw. Certainly made things a lot easy but getting through the oil and grease was more a frustration

I used 45deg 16" long nose pliers and went from underneath. Also bypassed the entire soft/hard pipe assembly that runs around the back of the block. It's too much just to change the one little hose.

Also had the battery out so I could get a light source in there.
