When i first got my Z over here from Japan, they came with:

    2x Dunlop 225/40/ZR18
    2x Dunlop 235/40/ZR18

Now my question is am i able to use them on road here?

This is not advice, but a good number of tyres on the roads here are made in Japan, Korea, and China + the USA.
I figure they will have to meet some standard that will be printed on the sidewall.

I guess it depends who you are talking to.

When I imported my car from the UK, I was shown the requirement (it is on the DOTARS website somewhere) that all imported tyres must be disposed of immediately on arrival and replaced with Australian sourced tyres, i.e. tyres (whether imported or not) that had been certified for sale here.

That doesn't mean your compliancing guy doesn't have his own view on this and all manner of things. For instance, seat belts have to be moved to the pillar for compliance, but how many hundreds of Zeds are out there with them still on the doors?

There are rules and then there is common practice.....

    You shouldn't have any

    problems with the tyres.
When my car first came out it had Yokohama tyres that were not sold in Australia, but these tyres still passed the RTA & Compliancing Regs here.
    Hope this helps

I wouldn't worry about the tyres

Just check the tread in case there's camber issues and it's worn more on the inside then you initially think from examining the outside.

    Tyres in WA

In order to be legal in WA (at least) the tyres must have a DOT or E rating.
Some of the tyres out of japan have these rating where as some Japanese tryes for the local market do not. My zed came from Japan with Yokohama tyres that did not have either marking and the car did not pass the pits inspection.

The tyres will have "DOT" marked on the sidewall and a number if they meet the "Department of Transport" standards which is USA based and Australia recognises this standard. If rated in Eurpoe then it will have a E in a circle marked on it. Once again this is recogniosed in Australia as being compliant. Australia does not have its own standards and piggy backs of the US and Europe.
When looking for these marks check both the outside and the inside tyre walls.:D

If your tyres has either of these 2 marks they are legal :D if not they are not.

    Hope this helps!
    Cheers Tim
