Im guessing afew people have taken their turbos out the car? Turbo seal gone on my driver side.. What are peoples experiences? does anyone have pictures? drz400y has a fantastic price on turbo replacements and reconditioned turbos but im thinking i might have a go at doing a turbo seal my self. Im just curious If anyone could give a step towards how i could do this on my own? or a turbo diagram, where i could get cheap seals? what to look out for, problems of how they took the turbo out. Any things that could help me with my soon to be experience. Mind you i had a look at the service manual. I have my own car hoist to help get under too
Well I hope you have an engine crane as well. Wykked, did his own turbo seals with a kit off ebay I believe.
Give it to someone who will rebuild them properly (there's more to it than just replacing seals) using genuine Garrett parts. If you're going to go to the trouble removing your engine to get to the turbos then you may as well do it properly the first time!
Agreed, but you could certainly pull the engine yourself, replace a whole bunch of other junk and save money.
yerp sounds good to me, but everything is a1 except this turbo seal so the engine has to come out to get to it ey?
it CAN be removed with the engine in, BUT its quicker to remove the engine. You also get to replace every single coolant line including the bastard hose from hell at the back of the block that connects to the turbo line. may as well replace all connectors while your at it too.
