drain plug out and the fill point is impossible!:(

So what says the bretheren and sisters of the fraternity.....the manual says that the diff has an oil cooler but I cant see it otherwise I would syphon it past there.
The plugs are a bit bigger than a 1/2 inch drive so I will have to make a special tool but it appears that they are seized in! bugger

    some advice please ;)

    regards John

Yeah, you need a 5' breaker bar ....

we even twisted the end off a cheap 1/2" socket drive extension.

Make sure you take the filler out first. If you can't get it out, you can't fill up the diff.

    yeh

1/2 inch drive fitted perfectly in mine. Last time I changed it, it was on a hoist so I got a massive breaker bar and a big piece of steel pipe to go over it and levered it off like that. It was ridiculously tight. Just make sure you get the fill plug out before the drain plug - at least that way if one REALLY won't come out it'll still have oil in it. Then once you get it just use a pump bottle (available at any parts store if you don't have one) and pump the fresh fluid in with that.

I had no trouble with the filling the diff up >>

The filler plug I think is on the passenger side towards the back half of the diff center. I undid that (though I had hicase removed so it may be easier) and then used a multivac to pump the oil in. The filler plug may be loctited in there so put the socket driver onto it and give it a bash with the hammer to break the loctite seal before trying to undo the plug. If it still doesn't want to come loose then an impact driver might do the trick.

Oh and don't forget to put the drain plug back in before filling the diff up.

The filler plug should be done up to 39-59Nm.

    Another thing.....

...impact wrench sockets are best for diff and gearbox plugs, as the grip extends closer to the rim of the socket than normal ones, so therefore gives more suface area on the bolt, meaning there is less chance of stripping the head for those really tight buggers

Thanks boyz...I got the drain out but the filler is just stuck solid

I drained a little oil and its clean as a whistle so I put the plug back and I will make a tool up to really fit the fill plug tightly (1/2 extension is a little loose and is rounding out the plug.

But nobody commented on the oil cooler system which is in the manual.....I couldnt see any sign of one and really it is over the top a bit...was it dropped by Nissan or does someone have it fitted.

    The oil coolers wereonly used.....>>

In Eurpoean models, due to the long high speed curves on autobahns heating the diff oil.
