Did a search only came back with a few hits.

But the people with this code, had Manual Conversions.

I am getting it and I still have the auto.

Also hardly any thing on TT.NET about it too. Must not be very common.

So share your experence if you have had it :p

the code means that there is a problem with the A/T controller, or the auto can not communicate with the A/T controller (little computer, sits next to ECU). I too had this in my zed (auto to manual convert), but removing the AT controller removed the error code. I would say for an auto however, its pretty important. If you need one, I still have my old A/T controller which was left in my car after the conversion. If you want, you can have it. $40 and its all yours.

    Cheers

it could mean there is an auto tranny error code, do a transmission diagnostic in the tech section somwhere explains how to do it lights will flash and tell you what is wrong

The error is signal from A/T disconnected/ not connected. It's the link between the A/T controller and the ECU.

Check the loom connectors on both A/T controller and ECU. One side may have lifted up from overtightening the centre loom bolt.

My AT diag light wont come on when i turn the ignition on.

I am yet to test the LOOM to make sure the bulb is ok and what not.

Something must be disconnected/shorted between the ECU

    and the ATCU.

    Code 54
(5 red flashes, 4 green flashes)A/T Control unit
    (1989 models)There is a short between the A/T Control
unit and the ECU. This repair must be repaired
    by a dealer service department.

Do you mean the engine check light? If that is true, check that you haven't turned the dial on your ECU the wrong way. It took me a year to work out why my light stopped working. Spent ages pulling the cluster & replacing globes etc and it turns out my old mechanic forgot to switch it back.

Except that if it is the Check Engine light, when you have a serious problem the light won't work!
