is there a limit to the information? can you have different modes? eg, mode 1, speed, rpm, temp, etc mode 2, conZult real time, mode 3, gps mode 4, video mode 5, pc mode 6, phone/camera is this realistic?
I was thinking of mounting a laptop in the car hooked up to an LCD screen with conzult running real time, maybe a future project to look in to.
i am sure there other cars that have hud. i know the late model bluebirds have hud. the technology is there, i have surfed the net for more info with no success. your laptop sounds very similar to what i would like. i don't know if you can use the dvd player screens. that is probably another alternative. the idea of hud is in my mind probably the ideal.
You should be able to use dvd player screens as long as the laptop has S-Video output to S-Video input on the dvd player, other way would be to forget about having a dvd player with screen and use the laptop to play the dvd through an LCD. But definately like your idea of displaying all different features just not too sure how you'd go about tieing it all in to one central place.
