Hey all, wondering if this is a good deal ? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-...=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415e8f0a5f Trouble is, i already have a s2 PTU. but not yet installed. I can't say that i know how to, although i could probably tackle it if i read through a tech thread. Im looking to install it with minimal effort, the quickest way, but willing to spend the money to make sure it is proper fitted and proffessional. What would be my best avenue ? Cheers guys,. i appreciate it alot. I really do.
plug and play with adaptor harness is the worst option:- 1. Still retaining your old S1 plugs 2. Adds 2 additional potential connection failure points. 3. Looks like Arse having it cable tied in position to keep it clear of the PS belt Tech guide is pretty helpful, as was the post by vader regarding installation. Soldering isnt that hard.
Got to agree , don't use an adapter as just more connections to corrode. Solder in the series 2 plugs with heat shrink for the best long term trouble free results. Cheers Dave
This is correct as it is what I did, it does look like arse, but I had a new EFI harness so its completely new, reliability is not a problem. When I did my build I kept, the old set of belts, radiator hoses and PTU as spares, not that the Series 2 PTU's has shown any issues with failure, its just handy to have the series 1 PTU as a diag swap out that I can plug in easily. Biggest down side is the price but if you want no brainer install and don't mind a bundle of wires and maybe a bit or reliability loss with old EFI harness, knock yourself out. You can always butcher that harness to splice onto the old EFI harness and end up with new S2 PTU and new connectors at a latter date when you can be stuffed or get a shop to do it for you, best of both worlds. Just costs, but its worth it for the pretty mounting bracket. Cheaper here: http://www.conceptzperformance.com/...r_Type=NIS300&UID=2011102701443660.241.47.117
