    Hi Vader,

I, like a lot of people, have a $100 7" Android tablet with USB and WiFi. No Bluetooth.

Can you confirm whether the USB on Android tablets is capable of doing live data transfer in the similar way to how a USB consult cable works on a Windows laptop/tablet? I've heard the USBs on Android devices can't work like that, leaving the only options being Bluetooth or WiFi.

    Cheers

WIFI works a treat for data transfer with next to no lag :)

I am having trouble reading the data on Android. I may have to pay someone to help me out.

I haven't seen a micro USB Bluetooth adapter for Android tablet yet.

The Nikoz guy doesn't seem to be interested in updating his app.
Maybe you can do a deal and offer him an upgrade path for his backlog of customers that are waiting for the next good thing ;)

I assume you have pulled that diagnostic app apart (which you didn't reply about) and didn't get anything useful.

I'd be willing to pay for a bundle package e.g ecu talk cable + software provided that it would be capable of getting readings from ecu straight to android phone rather than having to use bluetooth with the price tag of similar cost to a full tank of fuel in the Z32. Neat idea though Dave, coming from a person like me that has assembled and troubleshooted computers for over 10 years, I can imagine the technical difficulty and patience one must have to provide such an awesome application in the near future.

No, this won't happen. Our cars don't have the ability to interface directly with Android out of the factory, so there has to be a piece of hardware added to talk to the phone. Because most Android phones come with Bluetooth, it makes sense to add a Bluetooth adapter. If it wasn't Bluetooth, it would be something like a IOIO (pronounced yoyo) USB adapter, but that requires you to now wire your phone to your car.

By far, a wireless solution (ie Bluetooth) seems to me to be the best path to take.
