After replacing the heater hoses because of a hole or two, the thermostat hoses for the second time because of holes, now there is another one, is the most unlikely of places, where i never knew any cooling went.

Mind you I'm new to the 300s.

I've attached photos of where the coolant is coming from What cooling pipes are in this area, where do they go?

All i see is water trickling down the top of the rockers and dripping down onto the exhaust.

    See photos below:

they are your under plenum coolant lines, remove plenum and bypass them completely, dont need them in our climate.
see the tech section for the write up.

    Actually,

Can't you do the bypass without removing the plenum ? Just get a hose, hook it up on the pipe on the rear right side of the motor and run it across to the front left (and leave the mess underneath the plenum).

Or, did the water go through some pipes at the rear of the engine ?

    Can that be done ?

I thought only the NA's could be done like that?

No, TT's can be done that way as well.

Passanger just next to the passenger side TB you can see where the turbo hard line comes up, pull that off and attache one end of 8mm heater/EFI hose (about 3ft) wrap it around the back of the motor and it attaches to the nipple on the drivers side Heater hard pipe that faces the passenger side.

does someone have a better example of the shortcut bypass?

off, I'll fix it properly when i have time, i don't see the point bypassing it when i can just fix it with the plenum off.

8mm internal diamater heater or EFI fuel hose. 1 metre max. Repco, Autobarn, Supercheap etc. You'll prob need two worm drive clamps to secure the ends. Unlikely to reuse the factory spring clamps due to arkwardness.

Bite the bullet, pull the plenum and be done once and for all. There are another 9 or so hoses under / behind the plenum area that will leak shortly...

bypassing it will actually be quicker than replacing all the under plenum hoses..
all your doing is removing a bunch of hose/copper lines that dont need to be there..

you'll understand when the plenum is off

I've had a good look over the engine, that diagram you put up shows it well, but I have a N/A engine in mine and It seems to be compleatly different, i can't find the hose under the cam covers and i can't seam to work out where the hose connects to at the back of the engine.

Anyone got a closer diagram or can make one up for a N/A engine?

    Thanks heaps, Greatly appreciated!!!

I don't know if that picture is an American one or not or if the engines are any different, but most of the heater hoses etc are all around the wrong way compared to mine.

    :rolleyes2::rolleyes2::rolleyes2:

I'm trying to find a decent pic of the N/A out of the car to work off.
