Hey all, im now on my 2nd defect 4 bn to low  the 75mm ( front bar ) clearance is kinda obvious to our good friends.. and not only that its become an absolute nuisence as 85% of driveways are not accesible..

So im consulting the mob ( you ) on a couple things b4 i jump in

    1. Will my z still handle aswell?? or wat ride characteristics may change?

    2. Is it possible to perform this modification on a z with not to much of me screamin f this n f that?? :p

    3. Finaly, where would be my best bet to obtain this kit for the z??

and if theres anything i missed i should know PLZ jump in

    Thanks zedders

    Not 100% sure however....

If your referring to adjustable airbag suspension consider the following:

The actual compressor that inflates the bags is pretty big and would have to be fitted in the boot. And even then would be a tight fit from my knowledge.

Here in QLD Airbag suspension is illegal for street use.

A complete kit that i looked at for an Rx7 just over a year ago was round the $3000 mark without Labour.

In the end you have to ask yourself.... is it really worth all the trouble???

Fate... I'VE GOT A LICENSE AGAIN AS OF MIDNIGHT THIS MORNING!!!!! BOO YA KA SHA!!!!

handling has nothing to do with handling

Its to do with sawya bar size, shocker rebound rates and spring rates.

Get them right and the ride height is immaterial. You need expert suspension help, I suggest you look around for people who know about the combinations of these things

    illegal in QLD?

toyota celsiors come with it standard, and so do the new hilux's. they get engineer approval all the time.

    am i missing something?

lol actually I was looking at bags too as I want to fit a nice fat body kit next year and my car is already lowered, scraping driveways with the stock body. I was thinking it'd look nice if it could be heaps low but raised when I need it raised..
However, looking at other sites it seems the general opinion is that they will make the ride really hard, as like hydraulics. Tell me if you go ahead with it though. Sounds interesting =)

    hey all,
i have been quoted between $4000-$6000 fitted with engineering certificate.
you need this so if a cop gets you, you don't have to pull the car apart to get it back to legal.
most places will pull your shocks out all together so the bags fit easily (but this is illegal). the reason its pricey is because they have to relocate the shocks. Airbags are just spring replacements.
You can get some with the ability to adjust hardness as well as height.
there are a few ads on places that you can get kits made up in autosalon magazine.
    Good luck.
let me know how it all goes cause i'm saving for it at the moment.

Because it's standard on the car it is approved.. aftermarket is not!!! :)

Thanks guys, well thats alot of doe ah! i thought it would be arround the 3g mark.. looks like i'll be saving for a bit 2 lol, And why id personaly like it is 'cause u can change the height so easily that not only can it be practical and a legal ride height but at the flick of a switch u have one mean mutha lookin z he he he heee and ya gotta luv that PPPSHHH.... PPSSHH wen ya park up!

    Thankx for answers

    Re: Bling Bags

i was speaking to a guy about getting it installed and he said you could get it setup to dump straight to the floor when when you turn the engine off and goes straight to a set legal height when you start it.
i wouldn't do the dump to the floor thing cause if your nose is over one of those cement blocks you are f****d.

    Re: Bling Bags

lol true. But what if the car is too low to go over the cement blocks in the first place? I was reading somewhere that they usually set a practical minimum height so that if the system fails or whatever, you won't be dragging your car along the ground..

Hey there dude, Gilgandra still freakin freezing?? :)

I flew over to Sydney to chat to James at Tubular Suspension Systems regarding Air CYLINDERS for my zed. These are fitted where the original struts go and allow for a much firmer ride at low heights. However there is the problem of the huge tank and noisy compressor to deal with as previously mentioned.

An alternative is the electronic suspension cups that allow raising of the suspension BlackIceTT mentioned a little while back. They fit on top of the coilover and expand when you flick the switch. Aparently the new Enzo Ferrari's come with them too. Much better idea for our limited hatch space zeds (with huge stereos ofcourse!!!) and no need to get an engineering certificate as the suspension is still in the form of coilovers. The down side though is they are quite a bit more expensive than air ride stuff.

Shit that's what I meant to say!!! Seeing as I met him there :)

i need a fun tickets tree, lol

Hmm a few different options coming in.. i realy like the sound of these electronic suspension cups Brad as there is no arguing that the tank is a concern and no need for engineering is handy to, but wen we're already lookin at $4-$5g for the air gear, going over that prolly aint in the picture for me
Method, ill look into air struts n see if there practical for wat im doing, thanks for the idea.
as for the weather its getn nice and warm now, was actualy a hot day out wakefield park last wednesday but the z lapped it up with no overheating for the whole session! (i think having no aircon core in the way really helps) unfortunately my 2 mates, one in an 02 sti and another in a r33 gtr both of after lap 3 with overheating hehe.. although i did manage to boil my ebc dot 4 brakefluid by the end of it???

but yerr, there is no denying winters here are for making yaself cozy in front of the fire ;)

    couple piks at wakefield

adjusting ride height will affect suspension geometry and will not be

optimum for handling (only one ride height can be tuned for optimum handling).
