Man not again,Well to keep the story short, theres going to be a BIG Suzuki Swift cruise today and everyone is expecting me to come, woke up early to get the car washed down at the car wash place, on the way home cruis'n in the nice sunny weather, my tranny blew, well I lost 3rd gear and now all gears have this really loud metal clunking noise, still drivable but I managed to limp home.
Well this was the 2nd big Suzuki Swift Cruise I missed, the 1st cruise everyone also was expecting me to come, but a few days earlier my clutch went, got new clutch but alot of stress was put on my tranny because my mechanic found that there was no spigot bearing in my tranny so my gear box will sooner or later die on me, and for the past few weeks I could hear alot of bearing noises coming from my gearbox expecially in 3rd gear.
Man, what is it with me and cars, every car I seem to own I have bad luck with them! My Zed, now this one, well at least this car doesn't cost and arm and a leg to fix.Just venting some air.Peace

    sorry to hear>

but hey, its a good excuse to build a reinforced transmission and gearbox:YD Do swifts come stock with a turbo? my friend has a 98 swift sport or something like that and i asked if you could get a turbo version and he said yeah but not from factory, it would be a custom job. Is this true?

    All Swift's were NA's....

All models of the Suzuki Swift's sold to Australia were NA's and in Japan they had 2 versions, front wheel drive or all wheel drive and in Singapore they were factory turbo on some models that were sold there.
My Turbo was a custom job, the engine was rebuilt with stronger internals to handle the turbo a MUST if you want to slap on a Turbo for the swifts, what most people do is try to import a all wheel drive swift and turbo it up but only one problem, there aint any left around to import.Peace

    Not likely...

Looks like it will be off the road for a while, I have spoken to a few Swift guru's and they recommend me getting a late model Swift Cino g/box since they have a lower gear ratio which is best suited for Turbo cars, no need to rebuild it since all I need is to change the diff over, cause all GTi g/boxes have high gear ratios and for me to redline (8000rpm) in second gear I am doing just over 130kmh, freaky! I did it once, and it scared the pants of me :)
My mechanic can get one for about $350, he's in the process in finding one, I spoke to him about it last week to get me one just incase my tranny blew.Peace

    Tell me about it!....

Same with my Zed, 2 gearbox rebuilds and almost a full year worth of problems, now this one, I mean I hardly thrash my NA. With my swift, yeah I boost it everynow and then, but from all of you who know me I treat my car's with respect but I don't get the respect back that I deserve :)Oh well.Peace

    swift

All the australian swifts use the same G13B 1.3 engine...the difference between the GTI and the standard swifts and cinos are that these two are 40 something kw and the GTI is 74kw.. doesn't sound much, but for only 790kg (series 2) and 810kg (series 3) they give pretty damn good performance apparently.i vaguely remember reading something about the gti's being efi tho??? i know the standard swifts are carbi as i used to own one.

man, cars are just a money pit sometimes. But we love them and thats why we find the cash to repair them, even if we dont have the money. Hope you're repairs aren't too costly. See you on sunday??CheersJEDI-77
