    Hi everyone,the question is???
    I drive a Twin Turbo 2X2 ,1990 Automatic.
i have in my hot little hands 2 X genuine euro spec radiators.:D
one for an auto tranny which has a built in transmission and power steering cooler.and
the other one is for a manual transmission and i have the independant transmission cooler.with it as well.

So who would put which one? in the car,all advice would be much appreciated. :zlove:

Personally I'd put the manual rad in...

If you have a separate transmission cooler, I'd prefer to have the extra coolant... and cooling surface area.

Power steering cooler would be nice, but only needed if you are driving spiritedly (racing).

I'd put in auto, radiator and put in extra cooler as well. Mount the extra cooler in series with, and prior to, the radiator transmission cooler. Sell the manual radiator...unless the manual radiator is substantially bigger than the auto one.

    Sorry, but I strongly disagree

Built in transmission coolers clog easily, and don't really cool the transmission that well anyway.
Why run it in series when you have an external cooler that will do the job fine solo, not the mention the chance of the internal cooler clogging (which I read of happening) and cooking the trans fluid?

    1. I assumed he meant a brand new radiator. Though even if it's not, I've never really heard anyone on the forum mention them clogging, so i don't think it's that common a problem, as long as he gets it properly cleaned out first. As long as he has a filter on the trans and all, it should be ok.

    2. The reason to run it in series (and before IMO) is that the engine coolant gets hot alot quicker than the trans fluid. By it going through the radiator, it warms up to operating temp alot quicker, which extends the life of the transmission. The reason for it being before, not after is that way you cool it as much as possible from hot and it will only heat up to the coolant temp at the most, which also happens to be a temp it runs quite nicely at.

    thats two v one :D

    i agree with jono.....

imho its better to have them seperate for those exact reasons mentioned. also, if you later decide you want an after market or bigger trans cooler, you wont have to replace the radiator and bypass the trans cooler hoses.....

    use the manual one mate

You can swap for a bigger one without replacing the radiator.

Though the main and only reason for keeping two would be the quick warm up of trans fluid during initial start-up and to make sure (though less likely) you don't cool the fluid too much, say on a cold night driving around the country roads or whatever. It regulates the temp. Ask a transmission shop what they recommend, I had two different ones recommend keeping it inline for those two reasons.

lol yeah i know, i said it saves you having to bypass it if you want a bigger cooler later :) but i meant or not and sorry
