    Hi All

I looking at buying a 300 at the moment.

    I've found a 91 with about 111000k's on it.
It's never had a turbo timer on it and looks to be pretty mod free.

What are the chances of the turbos dying on me soonish?
What sort of life should the turbos get?

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers

    Gordo

Turbos are only one part of the puzzle

Here is a checklist we use to inspect cars. As with any car, the kays matter less with how it's ben treated...

Mod free is a good sign. You have a couple negotiating points to work with. The biggest is has it had the 100K service with proof of receipt?

This is a $1500ish job which must be done around 100K.

Find out if the seller is a forum member here, then you can search through their old posts

I know of a couple other zeds for sale ATM, PM me for details

Almost impossible to answer that Gordo. Without knowing the full history of the car and its owners in the last 15 years. The turbos' condition depends on how well the car has been treated and maintained - an unknown.

First - I doubt the kilometres on the clock are accurate as most are wound back (not all but most).
Second - has the 100,000km service been done?
Third - what is the general condition of the interior?
Fourth - What is the exterior condition like? Especially the condition of the trims around the windows and up across the targas.
Fifth - has the engine bay been detailed to remove years of built up gunk and also any signs of suspicious oil leaks.
Sixth - When was the car imported and complied?

Doesn't mean you can't find a good one but just be wary. You'd be well advised to get Mark Field (zed4life) to give it a look over for a small fee - he knows his stuff:zlove:

Edit: I see Mark beat me too it:D At least we're on the same page though:zlove:

    Understandable.

I guess I thought that the turbos might have an approximate life to them. But I guess it's the same as engines, depends on how you treat them. I thought that it not having a turbo timer would be a bad thing as well.

I'm waiting for an email from the seller so I can throw some questions at him. My real problem is that I'm in Brisbane and the car is in Sydney, so I can't inspect it. Do you know of some sort of agent\broker that you can hire to go and inspect cars for you?

Appreciate your feedback, will be asking your questions to the seller :)

If you think it's the one... get a local NSW

zedder to check it out 1st then fly down yourself. Virgin flight definately the way to go. DON"T buy sight-unseen...
