anybody else on iinet notice the change?
Getting 1.02Mb/s now off adsl. Sure beats the crap out of the old telstra 512k lines. 20Mb downloaded in 19s. Who needs cable?

    I've got it.

I haven't noticed an outright speed increase; but generally its been quicker. at 12Mbit, thats almost double the speed of cable! :p

    modems syncing at

    10656 down and 1024 up.

When ADSL2+ comes up speeds are going up to 24Mbit/s right?

Also anyone got any tips on getting better torrent speeds? I started using azureus and my speeds are crap.

Make sure ports are forwarded so people can connect to you directly.

    speeds

512k max speed is 55kb/s (approx)
256k max speed is 25kb/s (approx)

if you were getting ~50kb/sec on "256" then your line was provisioned incorrectly and you probably already had 512 :)

    adsl2+ speeds

If you live within 1km of your exchange you may be able to sync close to 24mbit but you won't get the full speed. You need to live in the exchange to get full speed

Have a look at these graphs. The first shows what speed the modems are syncing at. The second shows transfer speeds.

While this is great, most of us will have to wait until our wholesaler (ie, telstra) "turn on" adsl 2 on their dslams. And most likely they will cap the speed aswell.

thats cause your 512kb is kiloBITS not Kb kiloBYTES. Divide by 8 to get

a rough figure of how you should d/l.

I have had bigpond cable for a while now on the unlimited plan and download at 800+kiloBYTES a second quite often. Has a lot to do with your area as well. I also have hit ~60gig / month before i got capped. It varies each month, luck of the draw i guess.

True true. Sometimes they don't cap you at all.. I've got capped in the first week this month =( I'm thinking, maybe they got some screwed system where they'll cap you if you go over in the first half of the month and won't if you don't? I'll have to test that theory out =)

    Not at all.

I'd rather watch tv on my projector rather than a PC monitor :p
