What would be involved in adding front electric seats, cruise control and up grading from manual ac to climate control? Would the wiring loom have all the connections there ready to go? Or would it require a new loom plus temp sensors for the climate control?
Electric seat will bolt in. Chances are if your had manual seats it won't have the power plugs in the floor so you will need to route power to the seat yourself and run it under the carpet. Cruise control also involves some electrical, not just bolting on stuff. Guide is here: http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_images/Cruise_Control.pdf Climate control has an amplifier unit which is different between series 1 and series 2. You need to figure out which one you need and get the pod + amplifier accordingly. I'd actually be interested in doing the reverse and converting climate control to manual control. Anyone know if this is possible just by changing the pods?
Yes good question as im about to do the same with mine. im sure I read the ac ECU needs to be changed as well. Anyone? E
Manual ac to auto requires a new dash loom and all the pipework behind it to be replaced. Going from auto to manual I assume will be the same although you could probably keep the piping (auto has extra sensors in it) but all the wiring is completely different.
is there a difference between the jspec and auspec manual pods? going by what ryan said it's unlikely that the aus spec manual pod just connects up and works with the jspec climate control loom. if it does, someone sell me one!
Series 2 auto climate control is the way too I reckon. You have control over where the air gets blown and no poxy looking knob.
As Mike said, you'll just need to tap into 12v for electric seats. I did it to my 90s Auspec. Ended up running two wires down from the cigarette lighter.
