Hi i know in the User manual the min Compression level of each cylinder on a TT 5spd manual is 142. But can anyone tell me how the car runs if it is lower than this. Is it bad to run a car with all cylinders at 137psi in each cylinder. They are all worn out even.I would like some personal opinions and would like to know how everyone else's compression ratios are! Thanks

    Minimum is 128

Mine are all down to 140 (all equal) and still making over 245kw at the wheels with stock turbos.

    I think so.......>>

We have been chasing a very annoying miss in cylinder 5 for the last week. I even spent 4 hours with Bob from Hitec on Sunday trying to sort it out. All we had managed to do is create a long list of things that it wasn't, but today after reterminating the harness for the PTU and then stripping, re-wrapping and re-routing it the miss has vanished. I'm not prepared to announce it a success quite yet because it was a very odd miss.It only happened at light throttle (cruising and full throttle were fine) and only did it when sufficient heat had developed, and I'm not talking about engine temperature, but rather heat in auxiliary systems. I drove home the other night an it was only 11 degrees and the car was perfect, yet driving to Nissport today with temperatures around 20 it played up.If it is fixed then I owe Bob, Joe, and Spencer a great deal of thanks for their long hours in assisting me with what really was very baffling problem, and if you hear on the news tomorrow that a crazed Nissan driver has set fire to his car before pushing it off the Westgate bridge then you'll know the miss has come back.:|

    Not a bad idea Mikey......>>

I gave a Joe a bit of a hand on your car today, that drivers side wheel bearing was very bad.

If they are about even then the engine

is just getting old like us but still in reasonable health. If they were uneven then you may suspect valves may be the cause and they will get worse ending up with burnt valve seats.
If its rings then ultimately you will use oil and blow a little blue smoke.
If it were mine and the engine ran well I wouldnt be racing off to pay for an overhaul.regards John

He's talking about mine Ang >>>

The wheel bearing started giving a little bit of feed back towards the end of the Gilgandra return trip, got worse so I saw Spencer, and by the time I dropped it off on Tuesday it was singing loudly.Got both fronts done as well as the new clutch. Front wheel bearings are MUCH cheaper than the rears, one of which was done in March.
