AC lines - NA -> TT conversion

    I'm nearing the end of my TT conversion and have had an issue with my AC lines.

    The line that goes from the condenser (passenger side) to the inboard connection on the compressor is fouling with the fan. So, as a solution, I have sourced another TT line from another member (THANKS VERY MUCH gimpie) and have looked at it just now.

    It doesn't fit. It will have to go onto the outboard connection on the compressor!!??!!

    So, to all those that have done this conversion before, what do I need to do?
    a) Get other line and swap compressor
    b) Get other line and swap lines over on the compressor side (ie swap inboard with outboard)
    c) Give up with AC and move to Tassie
    d) Something else

    I'm hoping it isn't choice c (Sorry Jono).

    Did you swap the NA condenser for a TT one? When I did the conversion the only difference was in one of the hard pipes after the rubber hose from compressor. It needed to have a few different bends to get around the intercooler piping.

    I have my engine out and can see all the piping if you would like a photo.

    Yep, swapped the condenser over.

    I agree with what you have said, though I have no way of bending the hose - that's why I sourced the TT hose.

    Yer, that 3rd photo is very different to what I have.

    My plumbing goes from the condenser straight to the compressor.

    Those photos show the same point on the condenser going along the body before it then bends over and goes to the compressor.

    And the ends that go to the compressor look different to mine.

    Mine is a 93 AusSpec, so it never had Freon.

    I'm picking up the other hose next week (it's about a 100Km drive from here), and I'll see what happens then.

    I guess I just now need someone to tell me if the compressor needs to be swapped.

    you need to have a TT compressor on it if you are running TT suction and discharge lines.
    the suction and discharge ports on the compressor are in different locations.

    Sure on that? Every Jap NA pump I have seen has been the same. I have not seen an AUS spec pump however, if there is a difference.

    It does make sense to me. I think the suction and discharge ports are swapped on my compressor compared to a TT.

    There is also an issue with the angle of the condenser exit pipe on the TT condenser compared to the NA one. The NA condenser exit pipe is at an angle that cant connected to the hard pipes properly. So you really need a whole TT air con system including compressor and pipes for it all to fit.

    Yep, they are as per the pic posted by Vader. Except my car was strange because it was a factory 1990 NA but already had a TT compressor on it when I got it... no idea if it was done by Nissan or by a past owner but it saved me getting a TT compressor when I did the TT engine conversion.

    So one a side note here, if im dropping a tt engine into a na shell, i should use a na compressor for it to all bolt right up yeh?

    You will be in the same boat as me and need to replace all your NA aircon stuff with TT stuff
