What does the Consult ECU Diagnostic unit sell for and is it a worthwhile investment? I can get my hands on one from the US and was trying to work out what a good price was. Please help!

Apparently the software package Conzult does all the things that Consult does, plus more, and its PC Windows based.

    I'd go that way...

    Re: CONZULT

Caz Racing sells them at competitive pricing.
There are a couple of versions available.
It is worth the investment if you work on your own vehicle.
Check the ConZult website for specifics & also the Factory Service Manual to get an idea of where it would be used.

No, he's talking about the Nissan one. Consult, not ConZult.

So it's just a converter to go to serieal? Probably not worht that much as the Blazt cable does the same thing and is smaller, and available in USB.

I thought you where talking about the hand held Consult computer box with the read out on it.

no idea for how long since theyre normally ~$87

yes, the actual nissan consult costs a few grand, but im sure you meant a consult interface to hook up to your pc.

and theres plenty of free software...obd scantech, ecutalk, calumsult, tecu, see how often you use it before you buy any software

Those aren't BlaZt cables, they are bok choy copies . There are 3 international sellers with these low quality copies and if you research you will find many complaints about them amongst car forums.

    what is the difference but...

Surely its just an interface connection so it can't be that hard to successfully copy.

reason i assumed it was blazt because the userid history has madmike300zx, and user is located in sydney, and 'mad mike' from sydney is one of the founders of blazt with jason... if they arent the same person then theres too many mad mike's in sydney who are in the field of nissan consult stuff!

can you provide links to any of these other 3 sellers? and the complaints about them? ive kept up with most of the consult stuff and have never seen those cables sold outside of ebay, or anyone complaining about them. i certainly wouldnt recommend anything that ive heard anyone having issues with. hope you're not just assuming theyre low quality because theyre cheaper...the interfaces arent particularly expensive if made in bulk.

the circuit isnt too difficult, though making it SMD is quite a task. there are certain aspects of the circuit (particularly ecu transmit side) that some cars find picky, so its possible that a given consult interface wont work for a given car or not work reliably.

    Wow.......didn't know I would start a riot!

The unit I am looking at getting comes from the US (as does a lot of stuff I get my grubby hands on:D)

It's, as someone pointed out earlier, a Consult unit as opposed to the ConZult units that might be referred to in some posts.
