patronizing. I'm not expecting a gold watch for my longevity as a member, but surely there's a more appropriate reference for someone who has used the site extensively for years but has refrained from 'chatting' in what is quite often a 'mine is bigger than yours' environment.

I have to disagree with you there Dave.

Surely there has been a few threads that went down in flames but overall that is not the feeling that I get everytime I log onto these forums. I'm certain that if you visit other car forums you'll find that we are actually tame in comparison.
You'll have to speak to a moderator/administrator about your concern as I can see where you're coming from however I wouldnt take it personally. Remember, we can also see the date you joined.

    Ryan. :)

i did not find the tag "newbie" patronising at all, in fact i thought ..

it a great beginning point and all the tags just a bit of innocent fun .. actually i felt a bit sad when i lost my newbie tag ...

i think that it needs to be appreciated that we are not all technical gurus, as evidenced by the number of sections on the forum, and that while we are all ZEDERS of one form or another, indivual needs and contributions vary enormously .. from the mundane dribble (as disliked by chewy !!) to the highly technical favoured by many to the simple "for sale or wanted" of others ... enjoy the breadth of the forum ..numbers of posts don't matter ...

remember what we went through last night and keep an open mind to the contributions of ALL !!!

Maybe long term members with low post counts should be ranked "Lurker"?

    Don't take it to heart,

as every forum I know does the same thing.

Or maybe ''stalker or voyeur''.......

but on a serious note, it seems the only logical way to "rate" the members is by participation in discussion & knowledge sharing. If it was rated by "logging on" then the six year old next door could be classed as a guru.

IMHO you are over reacting about something that is not really that important to most people but "may" be a helpful guide for new members seeking advice.

Personally, I wouldn't give a rats@rse if they rated me as Tinkerbelle 'cause everyone is governed by the same ruling.

Is there any infomation on the forum

that shows a complete list of all the labels, and the number of posts required before each label kicks in?

    1-49 = Newbie

    Blipman Beer hooves totally work

I just had a hunt through the admin options

    It is:

    0-50: Newbie
    50-150: Beginner
    150 - 500: Talkative
    1000 - 2000: Apprentice
    2000 - 5000: Wizard
5000+ Post Whore, and the option to customize it to whatever you want. Beta testers for the forum can also change theirs so that's why some people with less than 5,000 have custom descriptors.

"participation in discussion & knowledge sharing"?...get yu hand off it....

the posts you tally up also come from banter, gossip and outright arguments in this Non Z related forum!!!!! Thats why i think the ranking system is redundant and hold to my original assertion. Patronizing.

IMO, I think it comes down to overall contribution >>

...whether it be helpful Z related tips and input or even mindless chit-chat in the Non-Z, it still lets people know more about you as a person and become more familiar with your views aswell as knowledge.

After all, thats how a "family" works isn't it?? - And we ARE considered a Z-Family around here...

    Cheers, Ben.
