My contact in the US says that the OS.Giken twin plate has been used successfully on 1000+hp Z32 drag cars, food for thought. JB is pretty good with the advice but he gets a bit evasive when it comes down to guaranteeing something unless it's clearly overkill.

I doubt if any single plate clutch is actually over 4000 pound clamp load, which is not needed anyway. Is it for a road car or race car, and what power does it make at the wheels?

John the Jim Berry in my car is 4400lb single plate. Had one made when the tailshaft let go and everyone though it was the clutch slipping.

The clamp load is accurate he bench tested components and assembled clutch using a big press while I was there. When I brought the old clutch in it measured like 2200lb which was the most the plate could handle. Interesting though when he checked the diaphragm it was good to 4000lb. This was one of your clutches from years back, not sure if your guy would have reused OEM diaphragm or supplied a new one?

Anyway same diaphragm, new clutch plate and new Sachs pressure plate and Sachs casting and all good up to 4400. The spings he uses are massive... Very clever guy and likes talking motorsport and clutches, I know a handful of guys on SAU have experienced failures but I suspect that is more to do with incorrect application and use than build quality.

Intersting and would like my clutch guy to test it. Peddle felt similar on your car with the two? If in fact 4400 pound it would put excessive load on engine and thrust bearings etc and definitley need strong pivot ball.

Yeah pedal feel very similar but engagement is much smoother with the larger "buttons".

You're welcome to pull it out and test -email me if you're keen?

not all of them ( sprung centers )

ive got the os twin as well and also the nismo twin .. i would rather the nismo all day .

have had both for a long time , heaps of time to get to know one enother
. the only reason the os is in the car is because at the time i could not get a reco kit for the nismo ,,

but now im scared that the nismo will not take the power..

they say 800hp but can it ?
os can be built to take more .. can the nismo ?
what i would like to do is speak to this guy , jb , and see what he says about all this ..

so what is a reco kit worth for a nismo anyway ?

Which twin plate? Exedy or OS.Giken? Have decided that a twin plate makes sense.
