That SS sounded like a monster, did you hear it at idle? Didnt surprise me it beat the 300, unless the 300 was completely worked but doubt it was.

even with a half decent 300 it would be difficult to beat a ss camero wouldnt it?. we all have to admit it is one beasty muscle car :D not a fan of it though  would pick the 300 any day.....

Bit of a side topic here, but what exactly gives the camaro its Idle note? It sounds very rough and mean. Is it the V8 or extractors or cams?

i wouldn't think its the v8 on its own because a lot of super cars don't sound like that and a lot are v8s so i would imagine it would be the cams.... don't count on me about that though

Yeah high lift cams, you're zed could sound like it too :). Not quite as mean as a V8 though, awesome sound.

Yes my Zed could sound like that, seeing as its an NA and all but I can't afford that. Maybe if I finally win some money at Crown I'll go nuts on the NA. I wonder if Chrispy's rebuild will make his NA sound like that.

    That would be awesome!

I hope so  , but I doubt it. It's the inherant crankshaft design and firing order of the V8 that gives it that real good sound. The cams and compression just add to it.

same LS1 engine but lighter car.............the older ones had LT1.

Knowing how easy it is to get power out of the LS engines, I'm not surprised that the Camaro easily beat a highly modified 300zx.

This is a VESS with just a tune (no other mods)......253rwkw.

Whats your point, different engine configuration............

The main point is getting as much air in, fuel in etc etc and balancing that with fuel economy, costs, drivability etc.................

Don't be such a ricer with this displacement to power ratio........its all mumbo jumbo. I want as much power for as little $$$$, if that means driving a 10L car with the same fuel economy as a turbo 3L then so be it.

    ls1 is a 5.7litre its the gen3 v8 not the gen4 ls2 which is 6.0litre.

how about a z32 with an ls7 that would be awesome

I had a look at this. From memory, cost of crate engine was $27,000.

    Pity.

Theres a reason why HSV's waiting for the LS3 engine and not getting the LS7 engine. There is also a reason why the next vette will be using the LS3 and not the LS7. Its a good engine and can easily get over 1000hp but boring it out by that much does affect block strength.

A better engine and also a the cheaper option would be the GM Performance LSx engine................like ive posted up before, not many engine can withstand or even designed for 2500hp in mind.
