Just remind them that Holden cant make their own engines, that should shut them up... Oh and also remind them that the only decent Commodore EVER is the VL Turbo, oh gee what engine is in that? Nissan RB30ET!
a few of my mates drive Commodores and one drives a BMW (i dont know what model but it sucks either way.) after i bought my car it was pretty much the same story "why'd you buy a jap car" "it's s#!t it's an auto" i took a few of em for a drive, the dont argue anymore
As of right now, the Monaro uses a 5.7L V8 Corvette motor. It's just a 2 door run of the mill Commodore with a Chevy motor basically, no more no less. Seriously, they'll beat you up if tell them all this haha Truth hurts bad!
yes i get that all the time. Also get bagged out when they say "oh is it the twin turbo?" and i go, "nah not allowed on my P's". I hate commodores. And yes, i often remind the bogans in my town that they are cheap-wad family sedans. And they think their cars are faster cos they have an extra 800 cc. Bwahahahahaa!! cheers guys, zx forever :zlove:
I really don't understand Commodore drivers (suprisingly most Falcon drivers I have met aren't too bad ) specially those from the lower socioeconomic demographic (if I can put it that way) who believe that there 10 year old pushrod family car is the best thing since the Model T I remember a couple of years ago when I was just about to test drive a Series 5 RX7 when a couple of bogans, to put it politely, yelled out of there lime green kingswood ute "Whataya doin'? Buy a real car!" Ahh well, I'll just let half them think that there old family car is superior and the other half think I'm driving a Lambo
It's the old story over and over again! Most young kids have no idea how well Japanese sports cars handle, how much power some of them make and what a difference it is to drive something that: Goes ! Havent had too mcuh experience with commodore drivers, never had one approach me and say anything abuot it. none of my friends drive aussie cars either, and i dont get any shit from any of them, but then again if you saw they shit they drove you wlould understand why. Just to name a few, one has a 1984 astra, another a 1987 corolla, another with a 1984 volvo 240gl (but thats a beast and to be fair he's building an ae71 corolla with a 4agze ) and a few that dont even have their learners . the only person who i get shit from is a massive douche bag manager at work who has an s15 200sx, for example the other day i got to work a few minutes late and he said "you wouldve been here 5 minutes early if you would have a turbo, or did you overheat on the way", then when other managers compliment my car (took one of then for a spin the other day, im in their good books now ) he says "Why do you like it, its basically a better looking 2 door camry!" i hate him.....
Mate of mine just bought a new commodore (well new to him anyway !! ) Brought it around to 'show it off'.......... Look at this gismo..... my zeds got that yeah well what about this thing ..... yep got that too all right , then I bet ya crummy zed aint got one of these.... Your right, I took I out ! ( there were about half a dozen other things he listed that I'wouldnt of had in a ZX but is in a commodore......... but it does !!!! ) There was a sheer look of dismay on his face at that time, so I figured it was time to add the salt to the wound.... Where's the leather seats ? Will ya mirrors fold back without being belted from the outside? How come ya engine has a bigger capacity but less killowatts than the ZX? I can get the grinder out and we could cut in some targa roofs for it ........that may help with its 'sex appeal' !! & my favourite..... Do you realise that youve spent more buying this one car than I've spent on buying two 300ZX's and your 'new car' has LESS features than my 17yearold car has & its as slow as a maggot off a chop in comparision to a ZX ??????? he left To be honnest we also own a statesman..... it doesnt even have half the 'exotic' stuff the zed has :zlove: come to think of it......... I could have bought 4 MORE ZX's with what I spent on the statey Ya commodore mates will grow up one day, by then they'll realise that they have to keep their 'familly car' for the familly that they have !
From a normal P-plater's perspective... they've got under 10k to spend and want something with grunt... and for that money you do get something with alot of torque, decent pickup etc. but take it round a bend... well let's just say that everytime I hear the news reader on tv talking about a car crash involving a p-plater... i always think it's a commo or a ford... and usually i'm right. they don't understand that it's not like a zed. it's a family car (i'm refering to the popular p-plate model executives, acclaims berlina's etc). it's not designed to take corners the way their more advanced sibling the V8 supercar would and you can't drift it like a D1 car either. But most will only learn the hard way unfortunately.
lol you know what funny about the VL commodore... holden was actually going down hill in aus before the release of the VL and it was the make or break deal... the VL turbo was a massive hit and is part of the reason holden is still here today! 300zxt is spot on bout what he says about monaros... lol ford also import their engines now too and so you know, their precious bathurst... they actually let a real car in there once, it was a gtr r32 model (godzilla) it absolutly dominated the circuit, 1992 i think they let it in, after 1 or 2 years they banned all turbo cars from running in there!!! ahahaha so much for their precious 8's! commodore drivers everywhere, and for some reason think they are worth a drag.... the other night i was being tailgated by a XR6T... in my 1.8L NA silvia... way to find a challenge mate! didnt give him what he wanted, nor the 4 commodores that night haha, only drove around for a hour. lol as for what wild said... im begging you, dont make commodore drivers go around corners... Yes your car Will handle much better, you will be able to drive it better... but they will try keep up, their car cant handle as good, they think body roll is drift, they will drift right into a power pole. cop it on your chin, point out to them that like 60% of the cars in this country are commodores, then play the spot the commodores game. your car is what you make it, plus whats a chick gunna prefer
also point out: our cars look better we can do two wheel burnouts (commo's are mostly single spinners) we don't need to do burnouts to get people to look at our cars as they pull looks just sitting still (not noble park maccas... ) we don't need massive amounts of bass coming out of our cars to get people to look... the VG30 note is better to listen to
