Was just a little fun i had one afternoon. my mate owns a auto 2006 Vz commodore (163kw ?) with a rebuilt engine (worn in 10k) I have a 300zx aus, 1994 N/A manual. no mods, complete stock with 92,000km. Vz commodore had 40mtr headstart on me from a rolling start of 30kmh. i cought and over took the VZ we were both full throttle lol allthough i had horrible axle tramp on gear changes. never really opened up my N/A, but they have some go!!
might be 190kw, i could be wrong. haha was nice though to look out the passenger window and pass that commodore at 110kmh. what size engine do they have?? V6 3.8?
Stock auto V6 VZ's dyno at around 125rwkw. With a tune and supporting mods, they can get up to around 150-160rwkw? More I guess if everything is perfect.
Alloytec is 170 and 190kw I'm pretty sure, Ecotec is 160ish kw. Similar power, silmilar weight but the VG is alot more responsive. Now do the same with a VS V6 manual and tell us the outcome... same engine, more responsive, less weight. The NA's are average on performance for a V6 car at that weight, not as slow as everyone makes them out to be, but far from quick either.
My zed had no trouble beating my mates VS with more mods done than mine and the only V6 commo to beat me was a 4.2L stroker.
rolling start beat a vn 5ltr v8 with extractora and exhaust, i had only mufflers and pod at the time,
Alloytec engines are pretty shit. The one in my Crewman is gutless and has no torque compared to the old Ecotec one. BUT they still geared the new engine the same as the old one. WTF? The torque peak in the new engine is way too high in the rev range. Only good Alloytec engine is the one that Alfa built out of the GM block
last friday night i beat a stock r33 gts-t and a mildly worked 5 litre vp both off the mark and 60km rolling start, pretty good for the na
It's not just the engine, commodores are tuned to take off smoothly (in second gear) and produce the most torque around 3000-4500rpm. It's like taking an F1 to a superkart race... what's your point? p.s. at the end of the day, it's still a buick 3800.
Of course its going to stonk you from a rolling start its an auto.... i love how people underestimate autos... why are you doing a rolling start anyways? they are for fwd's.... lol
Heh, and the buick 3800 was built from a 1967 F1 winning engine. Maybe my comparison was a bit off, i'll give you that, but comparing cars designed for family trips to the local mcdonalds and those of the sort that win le mans is just silly (i'm sure you didn't need me to say that though.)
how on earth are rolling starts for fwd's?? Its rwd which tend to have traction issues from a standing start...
