last night on SBS they had an old episode of top gear on (with some random dude instead of james may) and they were talking about the 350z briefly and then they talked about the cars in the family leading up to the 350z and jeremy pretty much said all the z cars before the 350z were rubbish..and the 300zx was 'unbelievably bad, dangerous and it will kill you' if it's so bad how did it get named in the top 10 best cars every year..oh well i don't watch top gear for their opinions on cars anyway XD jeremey hates almost every bmw and lambo ever made anyway

But this is an opinion from a man who built his own car, with a functioning chimney stack comming out of the boot............lol:bash: They did use a 300zx in one eppisode ,,,,to see if smart people could do a burnout, had the harlequin paint job on it,,,, looked sweet as. z32 and Top Gear.... the z32 has always been a mystery to me on Top Gear and I'll explain why. Firstly, I saw a very old episode of the original Top Gear, a 1994 episode I believe where clarkson was reviewing a whole bunch of sports cars. One of them was a 300zx TT, and he said nice things about it. Secondly, when ever they have done some sort of zed analysis on Top Gear, they always have the cars going from the 240z all the way to the last of the Z31's, and then they have the 350z. But no z32!!??? Its as if it never existed and they never mention it in the history of the zed. Thridly, Jeremy cant make his mind up because he hated the 350z when it came out (I have all of top gear on dvd so I'v seen the early episodes). So if he now says he likes it, well..... he cant make up his mind.... Cheers

I watched a really old top gear episode the other day must have been around 1990. Clarkson looked so young - sporting a huge afro, tight jeans and big white basketball boots. He was investigating the ferrari 348 for everyday driving use and compares it directly with a 300zx. He basically says the 300zx is just as good, except its not a ferrari. I'm pretty sure he owns a Lamborghini Gallardo Spider. Saying the 300ZX will kill you isn't necessarily bad, they say the same thing about Porsche 911's i.e Widow Makers!
Clarkson will contradict himself all the time depending on whatever point the show is attempting to make that week. The 300zx is in Clarksons Book of his top 100 cars !
It's in his top 100, on a movie I saw at 90 something. 100 was a old 911 I think, he drives it into a tree. "That's what I think of it" further down the list is a Honda prelude, a newer one "best looking japanese car"
he said some nice things abuot the z32 in the top 100, from meory he said something like "despite its weight and squijy suspension it is a hell of a nice car to drive"
hmm he really is indecisive..still i'd like to see a full review on the 300zx on top gear...did they ever do one?
in jeremy clarksons top 100, the zx was something like number 90. 100 being the worst, 1st being the best. Lol, i love watching top gear, but i dont take anything they say to heart, its an entertainment show and it USED to be un-rehearsed, key phrase being "USED TO BE". edit : clarkson owns a ford GT, which apparently broke down 1 day after purchase

as others have said..... In the Zeds they had in the studio... the "unbelivably bad" 300zx was a Z31 Clarkson likes the Z32 as discussed by way of his comments on his top 100 cars of all time. however, for comedy value (and remember people, this is "entertainment" he chooses to act the hater of all Zed cars) His quip comments like "you own a zed, and you own a zed, and YOU have a beard" are for COMEDY value. His comments like "despite its fat rear and end squdigy suspension, its a hell of a nice car to drive" are his professional journalistic opinion. Personally I think the show is well balanced. Comedy and professional opinion combined. Their refusal to properly review any "every day car" and just have fun with super cars is also the best thing about the show imo. Do you REALLY watch top gear coz you think "mmmm do you know.... Im thinking of buying a Ford Festiva... lets switch to SBS and see what Clarskon thinks of it"? Of course not. ITS TELEVISION. I do like his argument with Hammond on one episode.... Hammond (who likes the Z32 and the 350z) is pointing out that the 350z has come into an affordable bracket........ Clarkson says.... you can't buy that coz what will you say..... you're at a party and someone asks you "what do you drive?" ... how will you answer them? Hammond says "id say I drive a nissan......... oh I see what you mean" haha gold.
yeah true..as i said in the original post i don't watch top gear for professional reviews of cars, i watch it to see them trying to make an amphibious car to cross the English channel or make a limousine lol
LOL hell yeah. And thier Caravanning Episode had me in stiches (and brought back memories of caravan holidays in the UK) While they were taking the piss.... its actually very acurate Comments about not taking it too seriouse for car reviews was aimed at others in the thread more than yourself
hehe caravan one...hmm did they set something on fire in that one? i think i remember it..james couldn't steer the caravan properly and crashed it into something then they ended up setting the caravan on fire..obviously set up but funny none-the-less..well i hope it was set up..like the time they made a convertible people mover and set the car wash on fire lol
Yeah thats the one. The fire was a set up for sure, as were a couple of other things.... But i think 2 things were genuin 1) the crash as the petrol station (to me that came across as real) 2) Getting pissed off with each other after the crash hell funny all the way through
yeah that stuff could very well be real..but i suppose the only way to find out for sure is by asking the guys themselves...another thing, i really don't know what the Australian top gear is going to be like..there's no way in hell it's going to be as good as the British version..i really hope it's more like top gear then fifth gear though
