    Hey Ken,

I think black baz was talking about a totally different Z - you are in the USA; the amateur job was in Brisbane, Australia; and who knows whose kit or material it was. He was simply saying that his impression after seeing a shoddy job was that some level of expertise might be required to fit the kit to the car.

I will be contacting you for a suede kit in the future, but I have other things to work on and do first. Hope you are still selling kits in say, 6-12 months time .

If you feel you will not be able to do a excellent job.

    Dont start it !!

Installing this isn't easy. If you are no good with your hands it couild very well come out like a dogs dinner.

It took me almost three days and three cans of glue. I am still not all that happy with one door, and will redo it when I get some time

The doors are paticularly hard. Don't get the idea the kit is " cut to size", it isnt. I don't believe that an exact cut kit could be used.

There is plenty of extra material on every piece that is required to get the fit. It is all hand fitted.

Stretched pulled and shaped by hand till it is right. Then the excess cut off.

Here comes some silly questions - did you have to remove the grey tweed...

material or put the vinyl over the top?

I assume you had to take it off, but if so, how ... did you heat it first or just pull it off?

Also, did you then have to sand down the interior trim bit?

Lastly, how did you get the new vinyl trim flush with the bottom of the existing grey vinyl trim on the door? Did you take the door trim apart or just cut it to fit?

Oops - I probably should've put this in the Z Section...

    I did both Vincent...

as in i both removed the tweed and left it on, depending on some pieces.
Eg. the glove box, centre console i took off whereas the doors and the wheels hubs i left on as they helped fill out the shape and the glue also stuck a little better to it.
in regards to ripping the tweed off i just peeled it back, no heating required and pieces all came off intact. I then matched the vinyl pieces up with my old tweed (im sure this is how the trim kit is cut) and this helped where to place them on the car pieces as the less pulling and stretching you have to do(once applied) the better.
As i have mentioned before it is a big job, finicky(sucha word?) but well worth it in the end, check out my finished pics in my profile.

P.S. make sure you wait 5 - 10 mins for the glue to dry (apply to both pieces) then put them together, you ghet a much better hold as i found out.
    Good Luck

I managed to pull off ALL the cloth

including the doors, didnt cut any of it to size, and fitted the bits up as I went after the glue was on.

Jeffro is right about the glue. Dont get too anxious and stick the bits together too quick.

    hey tek

you need to use a heat gun or a hairdrier, i saw your pictures and i must say you did a wonderful job, but i think if you use a heat gun or a hair drier your job would have been a lot easier, you are right about the waiting time, you have to wait 5-7 minutes after you spray to apply the new trim, that way you get a better bond, and the outcome is wonderful, and tek did you get my PM about the door? i can send you the pieces you need just cover my shipping fee and send me some pictures
