300zx convertible soft top hinge repair

    Cast Aluminum, with that flat section. That really looks like a break waiting to happen after being stressed. Good find and post for those who will have that problem.

    I assume there is ZERO clearance around that flat section when the part is fitted, because the guy grinds down the repair and makes it look neat, rather than welding a small fin to further strengthen the area.

    I just wondered if cosmetic aesthetic was ahead of strength?

    Off Topic, but I didn't realise it was only a one off concept when I saw the pic that someone else posted in a different thread (which l can't find now)

    You can send them in to Z1 to be repaired if you can't find anything else. We charge $85 per side to repair those.

    The 2+2 hardtop is, the 300ZX ASC Spyder.

    The soft-top is not a concept, and went to production.
