Hi Guys and Gals, Need some help please.I know all cars and drivers are different ,but im worried about only getting 300k's a tank.

Im no lead foot ,just a little squirt here and there and there and here :)...but most of the time cruising around.

I just got the Beauty serviced and it was given a clean bill of health, all new filters and what not.

    Any suggestions please.

    Pritty good figures Nathan :p

For a slightly modded Zed :D

Paul & many other stock TT's suffer high consumption for many reasons tho ~ lead-foot not a factor, IMHO, as turbo's compensate.

    turbos compensate for non lead-feet?

how so, if you go easy enough to keep it off boost? i get about 480k for about 60L using only 95RON?

my last fill, following fitting of new 02 sensors was 50 litres for just on

400km, driving full time on "hold" (auto) .. mostly short trips around town and a 150 km, M1,round trip to brisbane and back ... would appear to be not too bad ..??

looking for better now that i have discovered the"a/t" mode ..!!! ( what a wombat ..!!):wacko::wacko:

    Baz you HOON :p

Now that I have your undivided attention ..

That's actually not bad consumption imo, with quite a lot of around town trips....very similar to what I get (380-400k's). Get 460-500 with big highway stints ie. Hervey Bay.

    Cheers,
    Rich

    Re: turbos compensate for lead-foot

Power under boost comes from exhaust gases ... ~

I can acheive 660+ k's highway cycle @ high speed with repeated overtaking/boosting.

Around town, 450+ k's, regardless of driving style: tried driving like an old man and made no better figures.

Baz when you say full time on "hold" do you manually shift 1st,2nd,D

or do you leave it in drive?

seldom use anything other than drive .. most of my around town

driving is ultra short stuff, down to the shops, over to bunnings ( say 5 km max ) .. heaps to/from golf (800 metres ..!!) when the car finds it's own way home ..!!... i originally went to hold mode a few months back on the basis of a forum thread that i may well have misinterpreted !! .. heaps of take off power and a good sound now replaced by smooth take off and gentle gear changes in "a/t" mode ..!!:wacko::wacko::wacko:

edit: and i use overdrive pluscruise control on the highway ...

hey baz don't use hold, if u are in hold and taking off from stand still

you will waste a lot of fuel because you are taking off from second gear. Fuel economy is something i've been trying to figure out on my car, my verdict is i probably have bad o2 sensors or boost leak both of which i have not got around to testing :(.

I think i've found the trick to a good fuel economy, i have been trying hard to keep the car in vacume full time. In fact -2 marks on the stock boost gauge cruising and -1 mark to 0 accelerating. I've found that if you want to leave the rest of traffic behind you and not waste fuel, put the car in power and give a little bit more throttle off the line. This will still keep the car vacume but rev out first and second to 3500-4000rpm leaving the crowd behind :).

I don't have much to complain about...

I get around 600-650K's to a tank Hiway on 95RON. I would have to agree with Jetzx about using your boost gauge to get best figures. I remember the early model commodores that were fitted with economy gauges that were essentially a vacuum gauge. The more you can keep in in the negative, the less fuel you will use.
