Hi guys,My mate with the 260Z had a question and is listed as per his email to me:"The question I have is, whether the RB30 motor will bolt straight onto the existing transmission in the 260z and also whether there are any other complications involved..eg, with the engine mounts..?.My intentions are to take the motor and everything else out of the engine bay over the next couple of weeks, and then I want to respray the engine bay at home ( iam getting a spray gun from my dads mate) and get a few things welded around the radiator by a local panel beater....once ive done this I want to put the RB 30 motor in, (i dont think will be too hard to find one, I ve seen a few VL commodores with recon motors for abt 800 bucks, which should be good as it will have all injectors, starter motor and alternator attached).....then i will hopefully get the whole car painted by apprentices at ultimo tafe where my uncle works!....i wont have to pay for labour, just the paint.....they are apprentices, however if they muck something up they will sand back and respray it....so hopefully it will come out professional!.... once all this is done ill look into getting a rb 25 or 26 head."I hope you can help us. Thanks fellas.
You would do better to ask this> on a 240/260/280Z forum. I have no idea whether the engine will mate to the 260z box, but I would be very surprised if it does, given the the 240/260Z mechanicals are circa 1974. Your friend is going to have MAJOR hassles with the electrics, as the car will need re-wiring if the engine is going to work. 260Z's DON'T have ECU's or any of the sophisticated electronics required to run a modern engine. It sounds like he's trying to get everything done "on the cheap", not always a good idea if you want trouble free motoring afterwards. It would be a nice car, if it's done properly:YD :YD Cheers mate Lloyd :-Z
tell your friend to get himself a copy of this catalogue if he's doing up a 260Z. It has all the Z parts he'll ever need. [image]http://members.optusnet.com.au/rowatt/aus300zx/VictoriaBritish.jpg[/image]
