Came across this while doing a search for Zs in wiki:

"In 1991, as well as in 1995 for the Z's 25th anniversary, Steve Millen, a famous race-car driver from New Zealand, mentioned below, built a limited-edition run of 300 tuned 300ZXs, known as the SMZ, through his company Stillen. These cars featured such features as flamboyant bodywork and paint and extensive performance upgrades, resulting in 460 bhp (343 kW) 1991 edition and 365 bhp (272 kW) 1995 edition."

Were these ones only released in the US? Before I came across this, the only 25th anniversary Z's I've heard about were NA 2+2 (one for sale on Carsales) and I thought they only came with the Stillen body-kit and maybe a few other non-performance related extras, or was that only the ones sold here in Australia?

TT's were never sold in Australia.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

There may be a bit of wrong information there ...

but then again, my memory might be playing up as well .... I may be able to clarify some answers over the next day or so.

To the best of my knowledge Steve Millen only did one run of SMZ's - they were 2 seater TT's for the US market in 1995, and were badged 25th Anniversary. I would guess that Nissan US commissioned the order, as I don't believe they were sold in Japan. I can't quote power specifics at the moment. Everything points to 300 of these being made.

Nissan Australia jumped on the bandwagon, and ordered sets of parts from Steve Millen to convert some Aus-spec 2+2 NA's to sell as a 25th Anniversary model. The kits delivered by Stillen included some revised suspension parts - swaybars, progressive rate springs, and a full bodykit - front bar, nose panel, rear bar, wing, skirts, and decals. I don't think there were any changes to power output. I believe Nissan Aust commissioned and built 40 cars with this kit.

The reference to a 1991 build of SMZ's MAY be correct, or it may actually be referring to the SR-71, which was done quite early in the Z32 program; and I believe it was actually a small run of special build vehicles arranged by 1 Nissan dealer, possibly Texas based.

I'm going off a very fuzzy memory here, and some of the above may need correcting - I'll uncover what I can later.

Thanks for the info RZM cleared things up for me :)

Yeah i forgot that TTs were never sold here, slipped my mind. Just thought that there was only 1 type of 25th anniversary and that 40 of the original 300 were shipped here, thats why didnt understand how come ours were different from the US ones.
