I suspect that may be a different incident

but then again, when has the media ever reported the truth accurately.

Got off way to light :N( :N(

She has no respect for the law, the car, her life or anyone elses. Dont need someone like her to be on our roads ever again!Every person in the state who owns an imported car should rally to make sure she stays off our roads for good! And at the same time try and 'undo' some of the damage to our reputationWrite letters, march the streets, egg the polititions houses, whatever it takes!!!!(except for the egging thing hehe)

    Why?

Is it possible that she drives a skyline then a zed cause she thinks it's not fast enough to get on TV? Not condoning this behaviour, but what's with the confusion between a zed and skyline. They look very different, one is stylish and the other is plain.

Who knows, but up here they definitely....

...had a picture of a black zed, though it was a poor quality picture that they flashed on the screen for a second, so who knows maybe she was in a skyline but all they had a picture of was a zed (or maybe a skyline is not a car for tv;) )

    205 = slow for a Zed

Hehe I was living right near Laverton for 4 months last year and didn't see another Zed. Silly me sped down the ring road too before I found out there were fixed cameras every 50m (from Perth), but I've never got a fine luckily. That road must have the most cameras in Australia.

    Cheers,
    Matt

    100 is sooo slow!

Hard not to fall asleep at 100 on good motorways.
I reckon 150 is safe on some roads... about time the limit went up a lil; especially considering how much more capable modern vehicles are, and improved roads.
Should start a lobby group. :)

Dont you know, that for every so many k over

the (arbitrary) speed limit, your risk of dieing increases exponentially, and if you double the speed limit you instantly die. But up to that "terminal" speed they screw you for every revenue dollar they can!

    I have to agree

These limits were set when it took a normal sedan 4.5 weeks to slow down from 100kph, nowadays better brakes, handling, abs and so on, Time for an update on speed limits except for school and built up areas i suppose

Blody Z drivers give us all a bad name :YD

hehe.....a bit of a large generalisation...what about the guy that flew his Z into a factory....:-0 Not all skyline drivers are like that.If you every cruise with SAU in sydney, u will notice they are a great bunch.Michael

But those old cars are still going...

But most are worn out with bad suspension and even worse brakes but still get rego, so unless we pull them all off the road they really don't want to change the limit. There fore they still have the speed the same and not to mention the revenue raising side of things.

doubling your speed will halve the time

spent on the roads hence the risk of an accident equals out :)

i saw the same article but with a Z

she was a learner driver of 18 years old with a 16 year old female passenger in a black 300zx z32 doing 205 km in a 100k area on western ring road and she got a $1000 fine and cant apply for her linense for a year.

not to mention the saving on fuel

if you keep it in higher gear })

    And a few other things...

The faster you go, the more time slows down relative to yourself, so in essence, you age slower compared with everyone else right? :cool:The weight of the car and gravity also increases with higher speeds, so doesn't this mean its more stable? hehEmmissions are lower (at speeds say like 150km/h) and your on the road for less time so its good for the environment.

Some would argue that the jap cars are...

the problems..."the cars can go too fast"... "why would you need a car like that"... "they are so unpractical" Well if everyone had a car that could handle better than a shopping trolley then there would be no worries...look at the german autobahn...no speed limits...why cos people drive smarter over there...and predominantly better cars handling wise...look at an 1989 300zx and a brand new commie...i think the handling over the last 15 years would have made the commie better. but 15yo z32 can handle at that speed...this argument could go on forever i know people cant drive sports cars due to families etc but i hope they realise the cars that can do stupid speeds are generally capable of handling it.blody L platers stick to 80 and keep the bad reputation to yourself...

    That does it

We need to make petition to double speed limit with all the benefits above. Now we just need a scientific proof and a politician to listen in. })

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

You can't trust the media to get it right >>

There are too many similarities for there to be 2 different situations. Annoying that someone can't get the story right - cars and fines different in the 2 reports.

    Don't forget 50% less

... cars on the road at any given time! Less congestion & no need to build more highways ......oops, unemployment just went up! :s

    Also

less people due to higher road toll. It's just like a natural selection on the road }D . May the fittest drivers survive.})

  20. Egg

    Egg ....

    Well.

They could do something like "motorway approval" where a car is rated on it's ability to safely travel at 150 in the motorway lane.
But hey, that's a lil eletist really and not fair on the 120Y's still getting around. :)
Yes, hard to compare the risks in say an old HR Holden fully laden including caravan shooting up the great ocean road twenty years ago at 100kmhr compared to our modern vehicles and roads.
    Cheers,
