WA 2009: Perth Autosalon 1st Meet

Ok.. The time has come... People have expressed interest so lets get the ball rolling.

Time: 7pm
Date: 19th August

I will put on a BBQ and drinks and we can all discuss what exactly we are going to do next year. Explore ideas or create new ones.

Here's the deal though. Not to sound like a cockhead but don't come unless your willing to put the work in. Its not a 'rock up on the day' style event. It takes a lot of organising and planning to do a big multi-car display.

Plus it will cost you more then the $100 entry free. Last year it cost each of us at least $600 each on the display alone not to forget any costumes we had or extra bits for our own cars.

It will also require regular meets ever month or 2 months, more closer to the event. If your not willing to put the hard yards in then don't bother putting your hand up.

Not trying to discourage people at all, but we were talking about it at the tech day and this is the kind of info you need to know from the start. These things grow faster then you think.

Depending on how many people are interested and willing to do it we MIGHT need to have some sort of selection process if we have over whelming numbers. Again not being a cockhead but autosalon isn't for 'clean stock cars' I'm making an entire show in November to keep the stockers happy but salon is not where they belong.

For all those who are interested PM me for the address and to confirm numbers for the night. And like I said, if you keen to join us its going to take effort, meaning sacrifices in your social life or what ever to attend meetings.

and just to add to what josh has said, even if you would like to be a part of the event, but you wont have your car ready in time or dont want to enter then you can still help, in 2007 when the 6 guys entered they had a support crew of around 5 or 6 people who helped set up, came to the meetings and shred ideas and all the rest, just without putting there car on display, so if you want to help out then by all means come and get involved!!!

 

I saw a lot of dirty stock cars this year at Auto Salon. Having clean ones would be an improvement.

so is this initial meeting just for those wanting to SHOW on the stand? Or also for those wanting help out etc etc?

 

those wanting to help can come any time and lend ideas... but don't really need to come til towards the end if you just want to lend a hand on the setting up.

Autosalon 2009 preperation meeting!!

hey buddy i am very very keen and interested,and I will do what I can to help out and make it a success. I wont be able to make the first meeting because of work, but I should be fine for the rest of the meetings leading up to the event, after each round of work I have 4 days off, i would be happy to drive up to perth from kalgoolie I just need a bit of notice,my roster is 4days on and 4 days off, worse case senario though i have internet access so I could be part of the meetings over the net. But as I said I should be able to make all the meetings. Money isnt really an issue for me so the entry fee wont cause any issues. pm me the add details

but count me 100% in for helping out and REALLY REALLY keen to do video stuff...... can i throw in the idea of having plasma displays showing the cars in action, on track days, dyno runs, AND build footage on the builkd up to the show.

like a mini doco of car and driver for each car entered

now looking at how much i have to pay to get my car up to scratch, i prolly wont make it for show time, but will help and do wat ever i can to make the event run well

 

how much do you need to do?

it doesnt have to be over the top like AK... just modded, kits, rims, lowered, clean interior. sort of thing... you'd be surprised how little work it can take to mod your car massively..

for example.. an angle grinder to your springs... hahaha

 

well, first to get it running
500$$ for tail shaft, plus unknown $$ to fix shifter
100k service/UD pulley new battery- 1500$$

plus to remove dents and broken kits etc:
CF bonnet 1200$$
bodykit, wing, nose fenders- 1500$$
lambo doors- 1500$$
respray- 4000$$( could eb more could be less)
nice chrome rims+ tyres 2k$$??
looking at a rough minimum 10k + unknowns...
i know a bit of ti can wait, but while i am pulling some parts off and replacing i should do other stuff that requires removal of the first bits and since i respraying i should do complete body in one hit...

not really touching engine or interior either till after outside done.. but if i dont mkae salon ill probably spread it around..

i could possibly make it but it would be maybe just making it, cos i still got to put money away for deposit for house which i buyionmg roughly same time next year...

 

$2k for rims
$150 to quickly lower the car on springs
$1500 for a kit
$4000 for paint

and the inside if it needs work, maybe $500 for a max retrim

thats 8k and you'll have a very nice zed.. the rest are extra if you get it intime.

 

i see where your coming from but take this into considreation
1500 for a kit, yes, but my fenders are dented to all hell, so they need replacing, while im replacing those it is easy access to hinges to replace with lambo, which NEEDS to be done prior to painting cos they always scratch the paint when playing with doors
no point wasting money painting the bonnet when it going to be replaced ne ways.

i know what your saying but i looking at big picture and most cost effective way of doing it....

Hey buddy try your hardest to get your Z up to scratch and hopefully get it finished. The More Zs we have the bigger,better the autosalon will be in 2009. As Load n proud said $8000 should keep u covered, remember it is 11 months away, that is a long time.

true, 11 months is a long time i know, but i will try... cant guarantee yet...

so i guess ill come to the meetings and see wat happens .. if all else fails atleast ill know whats going on to be able to help out...
