Hey all, I was just wondering when you install the center panel do you need sikaflex? Because when I installed my rear lights they came with a tube of goo to help stick them on, but from looking at the center panel it looks like it might only need screws? I just don't want to take it off at night now and then realise I need sikaflex.. Can someone let me know
use that black tar stuff when you put your rear lights on. heat it up and put it on. it will seal the taillights, that way nothing like water can get into the car
Thanks Mikey & Ed, We did the tail lights ages ago, she just decided one day that she would complete it with the 2000 spec center panel and we couldn't quite tell if it needed sikaflex (aka black goo) to seal it up like the tail lights. Cheers! Craig
What's different about the 2000 spec centre panel? I can't recall ever hearing about, or seeing, a 2000 spec centre panel.
They mean the one with the red '300ZX' between the tail lights Lloyd. Most refer to it as a 2000 spec like the front bar, etc. Apart from the colour, no difference it just comes with sealant like a new one should.
Hey Chili, not a huge difference, but the '300zx' writing is red on the 2000spec vs white on the older version.
I believe that the surround for the reversing lights is also chromed to match the tail light surrounds aren't they?
Z_FNQ is 100% correct. In addition to the red "300ZX" the 2k spec taillight centre panel has chrome on the surface perpendicular to the actual lights (Big words make me sounds smart, right?) As opposed to the pre 2k specs which just have the same types. The untrained eye wouldn't notice it, but those who know will ^^
the '300zx' writing is different, on then2k specs itis red. also, as per the lhs and the rhs tail lights on the 2k specs, the inner part of the centre panel is chrome, compared to the pre 2k spec tail lights which is grey
That's odd, my centre panel has White lettering AND the reversing lights are Chromed NOT Grey/Silver.
So Lloyd, have you and/or Keza been shopping in the USA? Can I assume an element of tongue in cheek here??? Such a product as you've described is available, previously with EL but now with LED ....
