As soon as i re-register it, its road worthy.

SA dont have yearly checks and so on.

But put it this way though, with the old buggered engine (unknown at the time), i got it through the inspection with only one hiccup. That being the VIN wasnt stamped into the body. It was attached on a plate with rivets by the import house back when it was imported. Being a VIC imported vehicle it had no drams there. It was no biggie, as i got it done in 20mins and they passed it with no drama's afterward.

Since then, as stated in my FS thread, its had a newer engine installed and lots of other new bits and hours of work.

PM me if you want to chat some more. Alternatively call. Happy to chat.

Thanks for the inquiry. Hope to hear from you.

That's a bit weird. It's common to see the imports up here with a riveted plate rather than a stamped chassis.

Yeah, the red zed i used to drive had it riveted on and so does Amandas blue one iirc. (both were imported into QLD)

The inspector was really nice and straight shooting. He said it was acceptable in most states, but they like to have it embossed into the chassis. He pointed out a good spot as to where to place it. And simply stated it was to confirm that there cant be any funny business later down the track. With changing the numbers and jazz.

I was more than happy to get it done, as he passed everything else. Was no issues at all. Even the twisted drivers seat belt i forgot to fix before driving there.

Either way. As much as i would like to keep it, i have to sell it =(

Maybe going to revise the price too...cheaper =/

VIN is both stamped into the chassis at the firewall and on a plate riveted up front.

Chassis must be stamped as the plate can easily be changed. If not, run away - stolen or rebirthed.

The true VIN is the one used in Japan. When they import them, they give them new ones. Hence the riveted plate. They dont always stamp the body with the new VIN, but it was advised by the inspector, for your exact reason. Eg, dodgy fixes, stolen, rebirths.

I have no issues with rebirths so long as they're safe and inspected/engineered.

Either way this is off topic.
