Now that I am doing an apprenticeship I have the wages to go with it, fortunately for me my wife has changed jobs to another one with better pay but worse hours, now I have the lovely job of collecting my kids (3 of) for the Grandparents after work, being the lazy bugger I am I decided it was time to sort a better storage method for my Targa's.

Be aware this involves butchery of the stock Poly inserts in my boot space.

Step 1. remove the carpet and hardboard cover and dummy fit to get best locations......

step 2. trim the LHS (passenger side) poly insert like thus.

step 3. I have placed a piece of rubberback carpet on top of the spare tyre, and added a piece of 20mm poly to the floorpan between the seat and the spare.

now we add the driver's side targa

lay a towel between and place the passengers side targa

    and thus nice and neat.

I need to go and get some 30mm poly which will be cut and placed on either side of the targa's and between the seat and the targa's. this will fill up above the jack and the small gap above the butchered poly insert and give me a level floor. to sit the factory hardboard down on.

Targa's are away with a 30mm reduction of depth in my boot.

How does picking up your kids, have anything to do with Targa stowage(and why would you need to change the standard stowage arrangement)?

3 kids requires room for 3 schoolbags and my eski from lunch at work, so targas on the deck or rear seat does not work, the car is parked in a secure yard no more than 10 mtrs from me at work and it rains about 10 mins every 2 months here so the targas are rarely on. finally I wanted a storage system that looks tidy this way leaves me with a tidy boot space.

Cool :) Good system! Unfortunately for many zedders though, that space is occupied by amps :( but this looks great for those that are less on the doof-doof and more on the fam-bam :D

The straps in the boot of a 2+2 are to secure the targas once they have been placed in their storage bags. They were never meant to go in the back seat

Yeah but he has other things that needed to go in his boot, hence this design...

Good job on it btw =D

don't fit in my experience? not my amps anyway

edit: don't think bride low max's will have space for anything below them... :D

    OK, I see your dilemma.:zlove:

Z32's are a car for the selfish(passengers can make their own arrangements).:p:):)

Whatever you do, I would also add that a simple and cheap targa bag can be made from a beach towel, just fold over and sew up one side.

But the comment in a previous post,

The EXA had something like this, the targas went right under the boot floor. Spose that's what you get with a FWD car.
