Im thinking of buying the above old classic to tinker with as its completely original and not buchered however the engine and trans are a bit tired.
-Does anyone know roughly what it cost to recon an old ford V8?
-I was hoping to keep matching numbers but would it be better to get the actual engine rebuilt or a complete exchange job and not worry about the numbers matching?

Im not 2 certain about the size engine it has but a friend recently bought a brand new V8 small block for $3500 brand new not reconditioned, for his boat.

Aparently GM sold the patent to Mexico and now they build the engines but in Aust you have a 12mth warrenty with GM themselves.

    Just some food for thought.
