Hey Ron, was just reading your profile........ best Reaction Time of .019 is not good, that is a big time break out Anyhow, a 12.5 for a Zed is dam good, well done:thumbsup:
Reaction time? I think that any reaction time at the drags with 'zero' in the first column is quick. 0.019 is under 2/100's, that is bloody fast.
How fast can you blink ? Iv'e beaten that time twice, but unfortunately both of them resulted in a Red light.
I'm guessing that Karl is used to a .400 tree ... Until recently most tracks ran a timing system which had 0.400 as the "perfect" reaction time. In such a case an RT of 0.019 would be a bigtime red light. My last run at Heathcote Dragway saw me get eliminated from last year's Nissan comp with a redlighting 0.398 reaction time. 2 thousandths too early bugger it!!!! These days some tracks still run a 0.400 tree while others use a 0.000 tree. Doesn't matter, the principle is still the same, and it has no effect on your quarter mile time.
Oh IC, yes the tree at Townsville Dragway is a .400 RT My appologies Ron, I stand corrected:embarrassed:
I think it was designed to stop people from anticipating the green light... they work out what the quickest human reaction time would be (in this case .400 sec) and then redlight anyone faster because they figure you have anticipated the green instead of waiting until you actually see it. I think they still do a similar thing in athletic sprint events.
Yep that sounds about right. the 2 Dragstrips I have been on I have used the same tactics, as soon as the last yellow comes on nail the gas.
