Ok i searched the forum for info... and this is what people have recommended getting changed.. 1) Timing Belt 2) Thermostat 3) Waterpump 4) Change all fluids 5) Rubber Cam Seals So im thinking about getting this kit from TTZ: 100,000km Service Kit, Major 1 (90-96 Z32) Version This major kit 1 includes the following NISSAN OEM parts .. as listed below 1 x timing belt 1 x waterpump 1 x thermostat 2 x coolant bypass hoses 1 x timing belt auto tensioner 2x variable timing control springs 2x variable timing control o-rings 4 x CAM oil seals 1x crankshaft seal 1x crankshaft sprocket spacer 3x drive/fan belts 1 x crank sprocket plate, front Price : $675.23 Was just wondering if there was anything else anyone recommended getting done...
That kit looks to be everything you need..... I got my parts from TTZ but I did not replace the auto tensioner. The kit is missing the two timing belt idler pulleys which has a very nasty price tag genuine but can be purchased from CBC Bearings for half the cost. If you wanted to save yourself some $$$ you could go without changing the three front drive belts as these can be changed anytime when they look as though they have had there day, mine looked as though they were changed recently so I reused them. Basically what you should be looking for is all the parts that can be accessed when the timing belt is changed. If you are doing the service yourself make sure you use a high quality torque wrench. Also get a 3/8 drive 6mm hexhead for torquing up the hex head bolts that hold on the coolant pipes. Also the water pump does not come with a gasket. Make sure you have some automotive grade silicon (ultra blue) to use if you do not get the gasket, it will also be required when you put the coolant pipes back on as well.
If your not sure when the last T/ belt ect service was done! DO IT NOW! ITs cheep compaired to a rebuild.
Re: If your not sure i just bought it at auction @ a small place and it wont start i havent ever driven it crazy eh?
well just recently i spotted a sticker... ...in my engine bay. it appears to say that the 100000km service was done at 43777km? Im not real sure, as my japanese isnt what it used to be However, if this was the case, what reasons would there be for the service to be done so early?
one reason could be that the service was done because of the age of the vehicle rather than the mileage .. the other possiblity could be to do with a speedo wind back..???
Re: one reason could be that the service was done because of the age Yes, i thought it may have been wound back, but it is actually the sticker that says 43777km on it?
check check out the conceptzperformance site (usa) site ......they have two kits ... one called the 60,000 MILE package, the other, the 120,000 MILE package .. this latter includes a few more bits for $us140 extra ... i elected to go for this more inclusive kit .. it should arrive in the next week or so ..
yep, sure ... but what if the car had 100,000 on the clock ... the speedo then wound back to 43,000 and service done .. both actions to enhance sale value ..?? ... just a thought ..
Re: check check out the conceptzperformance site (usa) site ......they have I believe from reading a prior thread, that the sticker also should have the age of the car when the timing belt was changed. Mine said 65000 and 9 years, and is also due soon.
Re: check check out the conceptzperformance site (usa) site ......they have does anyone have anyidea how to read date in japanese? i think my sticker has a date (well i assume its a date?) on it such as 12 (japanese character) 14 (japanese character)? and black baz, if you are correct then the 100000km service was done 45000km before the car left japan, and wont be due again for about another 55000km. however, i think i will do the service sooner rather than late, that way i will know for sure when the 100000km service was done?
Regardless of ODOMETER reading and with lack of >>> ... genuine prior history, it is prudent, nay mandatory to do a 100k service AND plenum pull as your 89/90 Zed is well past it's use-by date on many consumables. Far better to spend (say) $1500 now, than $7k to $10k later on an engine rebuild.
lol I was going to suggest it but thought Id better keep all the arguments in the one thread If the thought of getting shocks from Coz prompted so much anger I didnt want to mention a service kit :LOL::LOL:
Re: Regardless of ODOMETER reading and with lack of >>> assuming you were talking to me? in which case that is what i just said?
Not just directed at you SNORQUE, but everyone reading this thread. A 100k service is one item of preventative maintenance which should be addressed with respect to all the recent imports, a plenum pull & coolant hose replacement [or bypass] is another, also important with summer coming on.
Japanese Years The Japanese number their years after their emperor's rule, we are now in the Heisei Era. See this page.
service mines got 180,000 ks on it and i have no idea of the service history so i booked it in down the gold coast while im staying at indy, so untill then its only driven on e have too basis. so bring on INDY!!!!
