Is the price right?

Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a Zed and I recently test drove a 1993 non-turbo 4 seater with 167,000km on the clock. The car is in very good condition, no clear faults. I had a reliable friend come with me and check it out.

The seller is asking around $14,000 to $15,000 which to me seems high. Any thoughts?

I've gone through this forum and other online car sellers like carsales.com.au and drive.com.au and believe that price is at least a few grand too high. Am I correct in my analysis?

It is pretty high seeing as i got my 1990 N/A Slicktop for $6,200 with 171,000km.

New member AusNAZ32 just paid $11500 for a very clean example of an Aus delivered NA!........this was from a dealer with a 6month warranty (I believe!).......see 'airstyle's pic (4th one down! Red Auspec NA) in this thread

the pexzed "yella stella fella" just sold for $14,900 .. TT with a brilliant service history and a heap of bells and whistles .. there is your answer ....

..price is well over the top for your machine of interest ...

 

I'm no pro, but i see this as Extremely high.

I recently bought my 94 j-spec NA for $8000 with only 60k on the clock... i know its not an aus-spec, but its also rare to come accross a new model from what i can gather...

In hignsight, i would have looked on the forum for sales of cars on here, as most seem to be very genuine and reasonable sales... many with all of the upgrades already made...

just my 2c anyway

anything over 10k for a non turbo is on the high side.

twin turbos can be had for similar prices, reason why some non turbo's maybe around 10-12k is because of the P plater law in NSW?

but yeah, shop around, plenty of non turbo's from 6k Ive seen!!!

Not really, all depends on the car... those six grand zeds will most likely be neglected buckets of poo... you may get lucky but odds are you will be buying problems, and will end up having to spend a few grand to get it back up to scratch...

There's NO WAY I'll be selling my beloved Auspec NA 2+2 5spd with cruise, working A/C (working EVERYTHING really).......... that's been well maintained & in really good condition with a list of nice mods to boot!......for anything under $10-11K!......I just need to find the right buyer who will love her & appreciate her as much as I have! :zlove::zlove::zlove::zlove:

Careful you might jinx yourself! .......but like ZXDEVIL said!.......there will be 'some' lucky purchases & really genuine 'bargains' out there! :zlove:

Havent had issues with mine and I bought mine for 10k a few years back, with todays market Id be lucky to sell it for 6-7k and its not neglected poo!!

That thread is over 2 years old, i understand what you mean but really alot has changed in 2 years for prices of zeds. Not sure if he would've got that price now in this market.....
