bro i'm still on my red p's and i've been pulled up multiple times, and every time they ask for me to pop the hood and they check her out, but of course they accuse it of being prohibited, and because mine has a turbo stamp under the bonnet [no idea why] they go bonkers at me, although it's really friggin obvious it's a NA.

Freakin' obvious to who?. us? the ZX community. To untrainted people or the vast group of "we know all about cars'" people... it isnt. Unless visually comparing a NA to a TT ZX at the same time, i would wager a large percentage of people would not know the difference .. let alone if it had a badge on it saying "TWIN TURBO"..

an example of this is cars with APEXI, or GREDDY badges on them... or slapping a evo badge on a ES lancer! LOL.. doesnt mean the ES lancer is a 2.0L turbo but i wager if it had the body kit a cop would get confused.

I got harrased like no tomorrow with my silver NA on my P's. Especially when i put a UAS front bar on it, tinted the windows and a Stillen nose panel. Often accused it was a turbo. It died off after they realised they had nothing to get me on. Until they heard i had got a new Twin Turbo. Then i began getting harassed even more and in the end they harrass me now with my Twin Turbo even though i am on a full licence.

best example of the "this vehicle is prohibited for Provisional licence holders"...

    ME: *gets out of car*
Officer 1: Do you see a problem here?
ME: no? Appart from my rear P plate is slightly obscured i guess.
Officer 2: Yes and thats a $140 fine and 2 points if we want.
ME: ok then *gets down on knees and pulls plate out and puts a 2nd P plate on the other side of hte number plate*
Officer 1: Thats ok then for now, but get some proper plate holders.
*Cops and I depart and im about to get in the car to leave when...
Officer 1: wait a minute!.. is this a turbo'd vehicle.
Me: No its a NA ZX... a V6
Officer 1: what is it ?
Officer 2: *walks around the car and comes back to the rear* is a... *looks at rear center panel* 300ZX legal for P platers to drive.
ME: yes, if it wasnt would you have needed to ask me that ?
Officers: *says goodbye and we part seperate directions*

In the end. if you are on P plates and in a Z. You will be harrased most likely.. depends where you live.

EG, I live in goulburn. so the percentage of P platers with NICE done up cars is.. well.. 5% (thus easy for police to pick on us)..
where as in sydney, the percentage of nice P plate cars is probably closer to 20-25% so you could wager there is probably more "hoons" the police are going after so you will be less likely to be targetted unless u do something stupid.

Thanks, Mr. Dad... maybe youve just been fortunate enough to not be pulled over with no consequences but wasted time.. maybe because youre a geezer you dont get singled out too often in traffic. Im younger than you.. sure.. but if there was ever a chip on my shoulder.. it didnt just magically appear.
Youre too old to care what happens to the youngins.. cops have become less and less trustworthy over time since you were in your 20s agreed? More underhanded tactics to achieve quota.. less cops to deal with growing population so they let any control freak join regardless of their IQ. Or maybe youve gained a few cop buddies that you respect and admire.. those worthy of friendship arent in question here... Its the cops who dedicated too much time to preserve peace that they had no time for themselves to better themselves as people..Just as growing old is mandatory.. getting wiser is not.. and these asshole cops are certainly not wise

But thanks for playing devils advocate

That diatribe has to be the greatest load of 'Urban legend' garbage I have ever had the misfortune to read.
Methinks you may have overdosed on Dukes of Hazzard stereotypical drivel.
Nobody on here is going to hold it against you(just because you missed getting to your Parents Wedding)perhaps you should have given yourself more time to get there.
Next time, try not exiting your car via the window, you may get a better reaction from the Officer.:p:p

    Ahh, "Ignorance is bliss".
Contrary to your uninformed opinion, Police have never before been under such close scrutiny as they are today(every move they make is able to be recorded and replayed without their permission, by any member of the public).
They also have to work in a hostile environment, where violence and death are an everyday occurrence(unlike the "20 years ago" world you choose to quote).
I will hazard a guess and say that I am probably 3 times your age, and just possibly may have three times the experience(and three times the number of mistakes to my credit)than you do.
How fortunate that you were born "knowing it all", oh BTW, THERE IS NO QUOTA!

Youre not an retired cop.. are you? Itd explain a few things

Cool..looks like I can use a tape recorder without their explicit consent.

They signed up knowing full well what environment theyd be working in...they obviously didnt sign up just for the awe inspiring uniform... Just because the cases are getting gradually more 'radical'.. it doesnt excuse them from conducting themselves improperly on a day to day basis by harrassing innocent civilians..

Experience is not relevant if circumstances prove inconsistent.. its like a retired tradesman giving advice to an intern.. sure .. the theory is sound but there are sht all tools for the intern to use that the retiree was once accustomed to.. also.. the complexity of the newer job would blow the retirees mind.
If I could hazard a guess.. Id say that your experience with law enforcement differs vastly with mine.

In the same nonsensical vein.. we are smartest at birth.. the naturally downward sloping curve of information absorption is a fact of life. "Old" and "stubborn" are interchangeable

Quotas dont need to be numerically obvious.. its when a dept fails to reduce crime in an area despite adequate patrolling and police work that the higher ups feel the need to tally performance against a certain standard ie the quota

It's not your level of intelligence that's in question here(you obviously exhibit a good education), it's your arrogant and dismissive attitude that will get you in deep water, every time.
Respect begets respect(and in the area we are discussing)that means respect needs to be exhibited to the individual who is charged with the authority by the Legal Statutes(the Police Officer).
Try working with that and you won't have anything to whinge about.
BTW, thank you for pointing out that experience is irrelevant(that outlook is the root cause of most of our Societal woes).

I have an NA 94, Standard with no body kit or exhaust. I have never been pulled over. I have been tailed by highway patrol many times, Just drive sensible and they leave me alone.

also as a guide, i have a mate who works at the RTA, and i have requested a full writen list of car models and makes with the power specs etc...

so Provisional 1 drivers can see what is and isnt deemed high power.

i will post up the list in another thread when i receive it, i hope it helps

Hey mate will be much appreciated if you can post the list. A friend of mine is under the impression that you can drive Petrol turbocharged Audi A3's because they fall under the "moderately turbocharged" category? I thought he was full of shit but I tried to read the clutter that is the RTA website and it does actually say something like that...

    Cheers
    Greg.

    hukie90 300TTorrr?

you would be one of them cops that pic on the p platers, wouldnt you.
i also have been pulled up in twice in 1 night. withing 2 mins.
obviously the cops were fooling with me as i ran an amber light, and the other about 100 meters down the road and a left out of sight, follows me and pulls me over. what for. the p plate sign + the car.

one officer said, i pulled you over because your car stands out 'like dogs balls'.

    hmmmmmmm?

    na zed is not restricted

jap imports are just targetted by general by cops, p plater or not, if you have a modified import, you will be pulled over and grilled

    Did they "book" you Hukie?
    Let's see now,
1: Running an Amber Light(when the Road Rules explicitly say that you should STOP "if you can do so without causing an accident".
That's the trouble with Amber Lights, one minute they aren't there, and the next, they are(why can't they make up their mind).

2: Driving on a Provisional Licence without displaying a "P" plate.
Who thought up this stupid rule?

Your problem is you met an honest Cop, who told you why he stopped you and you don't appreciate that fact.:eek:

I hope you did get booked, because if not, your whole "quota" theory is blown right out the window.:p:p:p:zlove:

well maybe if they weren't homo non-z owners.

    point made.
    kudos to me.

and the badge isn't on the outside, it's on the inside of the hood, i'm pretty sure it was imported as a TT. ierno.

no worries. as soon as i get the list i will PM you and i'll post up a thread with the list. the most i could find out for now is... --- turbo charged or not, its all based on KW per Kg of vehicle weight, "or in the cops eyes, if its turbo'd, get out and pay the fine (if your a P plater lol)". if this is exceeded....then turbo charged is deemed high power. Look at deisel engines, they lag like sh*t in everyday cars, until they are run with a turbo to reduce the lag....yet they are not classed as high power. even if you get a deisel engine producing a decent Kw rating.

its a conspiracy lol but i do agree with nemz. jap imoprts are bloody targets, i used to one once, and nothing but a cop magnet.
