But all cars should be locked up anyway...not just the zeds Most insurance co's ask if its locked up/garaged. if its not then it will cost you more coz youre a higher risk
shannons wouldn't give me anything more than 10k agreed value for my NA, they refused to view the car and the receipts of all the work done to it and wouldn't go any higher on agreed value Justcar said I could have 12k agreed value but have the option of showing them the car if I want a higher agreed value.
maybe because your under 25 years old. I told the assesor what was done to the car and he said that because I have all recepits and photos of work during the build, there is no reason why they can't insure the car for $30k. simon, the whole car is insured for $30k, geez your sarcasticness is lost one me
I know, but what im saying is they don't have that option if you don't have it locked up to pay more etc...
OOhhh, that sucks..... Spose they see these enthusiats cars and think well if theyre worth heaps they should be locked up....keeps claims down...
I just think its a little far crap but oh well.. its a little hard to change a house and the way its garage is set up, mine has 3.5 walls lol but completely cut off from the public etc ... but wouldn't touch me because it wasn't completely sealed.
ZEX300 is sorta right BUT. I'm a noob too, recently went through the pre-purchase jitters including the insurance worries. Now I'm going through the post-purchase jitters but that's another story... You are trying to gather as much useful info as possible to make your foray into the Z arena as pleasant as possible, we are supposed to help you. Here's my 2C worth. 47 y.o. male, rating 1. Added 40 y.o. rating 1 wife to policy as a nominated driver. 1989 TT 2+2 garaged in central VIC, lock up garage or NO DEAL. Shannons Insurance, $488.00 comp for $15,000 cover. $500 excess Weird bit - Shannon's initially refused me until I told them I was a member of this forum, apparently they look more favourably on folk who are actively involved in their motoring pursuits, i.e enthusiasts. Go figure... Regards from Mick.
Strange outcomes is right. Read my reply to 1FAST300ZX about the " enthusiast " angle from Shannon's. Regards, Mick.
It's a requirement. Not weird at all. --> Shannons Insurance, specialist in providing Car Insurance, Motorcycle Insurance, and Home Insurance products for the motoring enthusiasts who drive imported, modified, classic, veteran, vintage cars. Insurance issued by Australian Alliance Insurance Company Limited ABN 11 006 471 709 AFS Licence No. 235011. Shannons Limited ABN 91 099 692 636 acts as agent and authorised representative No 239594. View PDS http://www.shannons.com.au/aboutus/ No I don't work for them.
Thanks bloke. 1FAST300ZX is in W.A. same as you, can't discern which part of that tiny area he is in from his public profile so I'm not sure how relevant our info is. I wish him well, it's a scary process marrying a Z. So, do you get a spotter's fee from Shannon"s ?..
Some interesting posts above ^^^ thanks people now i know what it is roughly i will have to pay for insurance.
Bull**it! My car is insured with Shannons and is parked in a carport(and they insured it for $27000 agreed value).:thumbup:
Lol its far from bullshit - i got told from the rep on the phone 2/3 times if its not in a lockable garage aka 3 walls and door - they wont touch you, maybe you got lucky somehow.
Anybody who knows me personally, would NEVER associate the word "LUCKY" with anything I get involved in.:zlove:
Haha maybe i am unlucky, but im not the only one who has had the same thing said to them discrimination then i say, maybe i should sue them ...
lol at suing them. How old are you and how old is chili? How long have you owned your car and how long has chili? They sometimes tell you a different reason for not insuring you than why they actually won't, i'm not sure why.
Lol, well it was a joke - i couldn't care less Mine Zeds actually not insured at the moment for road use anyway hah
