if ur going to run 20psi on the 2560's i recommend the forgies.
It would only take a little bit of det at that psi to destroy cast pistons (ring lands)

better to be safe than sorry,

    Regards

Keep in mind your going to have to get the block machined and water lines debured. You head usually need work as well.

Im allowing ~10k for turbos and engine for my car.

ok so you have told me the tt bottom end is good for 600hp I want 400 so all good there but your saying to go for forged pistons and rings ?

whats that about $1200 ? is it worth getting a stroker or is that big bucks

what else do I need for this engine I have spent all day looking at the tech on TT net and looked at my NA which is out of the car just to get a rough idea on what whats with out pulling it aprat  lol

a forged botten end is wayyy more than $1200

You looking around 1000 for pistions 800 for rods
400 bearings and bolts 500 water+oil pumps 200 gasket kit
    1000 for machining

you could also add about ~2000 depending if your heads need work.

A stoker kit would be somthing like 3k+

    Its an endless money pit.

Is the engine still in good nick? You could just freshen it up. Rings+Bearings+Pumps+Gaskets. It would save you heaps of cash.

for my rebuild when i have budgeted for i am grabing a rebuild kit off coz which is give or take $2000, injectors $1000, turbos $1750 - 2500, theres $5000 right there....

In addition i am buying replacement hoses for every 1 i see, tools to do the rebuild, crane and stand, car ramps...

Heads + plenum match ported + crank balanced + block cleaned and checked.

Dumps, UDP, full 3" cat back, better pod - are things i will have before i start.

depending if i try the hypergear turbos or go the gt28r i have not decided, they say the hypergear can handle 300kw but what about 330kw...i dont think they can safely.

I reckon by the end I would have spend $8000 to gain around 90kw... makes me want to spend that on a bike really.

If you dont have the money or saving capacity (like myself) i am just saving for parts at a time, get the rebuild kit last, you never know how big you need the pistons.....

Its a big job and I believe one you should only do once. I recently went through the whole saga and have attached the various build links

    Begins

    Update

    Finished for sale

I went for a very bullet proof bottom end with no real expense spared in the aim for high hp and lots of nitrous. The heads on the other hand I had rebuilt to exacting OEM specs with new valves and guides etc with only mild bowl porting and matching. I decided to save money in this area as they can be removed later for part two of the buildup when funds would allow.

I never finished the engine as a whole but can tell you with all the parts etc purchased and machining costs etc it came in at just uner 9k and thats without turbos. Mind you I bought new TPS, all new hoses, full gasket kit, and a host of other new bolt on gear including a full 100k kit. There was so many boxes it was crazy.

In the end its down to what you want out of it. PM Rollin on 18 strong and also taszedder they both have recently done mild type OEM builds I think that didnt break the bank.

BTW I have a set of 40 thou oversized forged ACL pistons you can have for $600 posted with rings (less than half price) and I believe akeimz may still have a set of scat rods for $500 I think which is a great buy also

    All the best with it

I have told a few people that I want to rebuil my engine and thre all going ao about clearences and that. If I sent my block away to get machined/acid diped crake cheked ect and same if I sent my heads away for a recon would I still have to worry about clearences and stuff like that ??

Also if I got my mech to build my bottom end crank/rods/pitons and rings then got him to build up my heads cams/lifters/spirings ect would that mean that al i would have to do is just bolt every thing together and thats that ?

Has any one got a tevh on building up a bottom end ? all the tech pages or write ups that I find all start with the bottom end alread done.

    Thanks alot mike
