in a Turbo car? Mine was in a brand new 84 mod Cordia GSR Turbo and she ran on super fuel (leaded) This car was an absolute rocket, I still remember my first drive and the rush it gave me was unforgetable, then began my love for Turbos, since then I've owned many but none as good as the Z32 :zlove:
BTW, I purchased My first TT Zed in 1993, it was a red 90 mod 2+2 Auto I paid $$$$$ think it was 60K and it needed alot of work (you know the usual overheating & Pinging and some paint)Was lead to believe it was the first Z32 TT in OZZ  I loved that car to death but had to soon sell it because no mechanic would touch it or didn't know how and didn't know what was wrong with it and the mechs at nissan had never seen one before either, twas a sad day indeed :(
Anyhow I'm a proud owner of a 93 Z32 Convertible and last week I purchased a Red 90 TT Z32, I'm in love all over again, aint love grand. :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Yep, vividly!!!

Twas the day we (Baroo 'n' me) went to look at the Z32 he subsequently puchased. Our previous experience with Zeds was with Tim's black Z31 (best sounding exhaust note, but a bloody rust-bucket). We set out to look at the 32, taking the Magna because his 31 was having overheating and stalling problems. Tim didn't say anything, just became PSA as per habit. He was still on his "P's" (except, stupid us left them on his Z31), so when we got to the vendors place, I had to drive the 32!

We went onto the Tulla' f'way and drove for a few kilometres experimenting with boost and generally hooning around, checking gear shift, brakes, steering and the like, exited onto one of the cross-over roads and then back onto a f'way entrance ramp. I accelerated in first, down the inside of a Hyundai Excel (I remember it was green), changed to second as we went past (the BOV's blew, nice!) and absolutely FANGED it.

Scared the shit out of me!

Drove VERY dociley back to the owner's place, picked-up the Magna and quietly drove home! Went back the next day and concluded the deal

I've driven it since, a few times, and it gets a bit "squirrelly" (back end steps out) under hard acceleration, still scares me!

I'll stick with my NA, thanks all the same.

    Impossible to Forget

It was the day i went to buy my Z.

The guy took me for a test drive, told me to try and touch the dashboard. I kinda chuckled and reached forward. He put his foot down and I wiped that cheesy grin off my face in a flash.

He told me that it was my turn to drive. Sure enough i took it slowly. But could tell power was there.

That sucked me in. I bought the car on the spot. $12500 GOOOOOOOOOONE.

5 minutes down the road i thought i'd "try it out" Got onto the M1 motorway and gave her a quick squirt on the throttle.

OMG What a rush. the throwback into the seat was awesome. nexer experienced anything like it even at a theme park.

Couldn't wait to start showing my friends.

And i used the good old trick that sucked me into the Z. Try and touch the dash.

    Cheers Fate

2 weeks ago, met young dude in pub at Merimbula, next day went for a spin.

l think the words HOLY SH*T, were the first ones that came to mind and it didn't help that the roads were wet (shake that ass). But l think l'll just go back to my little put put NA, l think l'd wrap myself around a tree in one of those things.

Escort RS2000 with an aftermarket turbo kit ...>>

damn quick little car. The owner kept blowing up gear boxes and eventually fitted a 767 torque flight with a clutch instead of a torque convertor. He grenaded the engine eventually ...

Took me another 17 years to buy my own turbo car.

My TT was complianced in 93, so must have been about the same time.

    Cheers

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

    Cordia for me too

I was driving Sydney-Melbourne in a Sigma (yes Jedi, it's true, there is a Sigma in my past) when a Cordia with 4 people on board passed me on a steep hill as if I was walking. I was impressed enough to start seeing dealers the next week, and 2 months later mine arrived on a boat from Japan.

I was really impressed, drove it daily from May 1985 till Sept 2000 when my Z32 TT arrived, which was a whole new experience again.

The Cordia still resides in the driveway looking sorry for itself. If the Z behaves for the next 6 months, then ole Cordy can get some love and get back on the road again as the daily driver, with the Z then reserved for weekends and special occasions .

the ZED was the first turbo car for me.... I thougt it was tame and heavy.

Mind you I think a falcon is a slug....

Bear in mind I grew up with bike all my life and thought of turbo's as straight line crusing bikes.

The first turbo I had was a GPZ750. It was a bit ruff around the edges but in a straight line it flew. But it was no match for my Big bore 1355 GSX1100EFE.
My next turbo I got at the right price was a CX500 turbo. it was a good 400cc bike but if you got over the rubber throttle it wasn't a bad 750.

At the time I was racing guzzi's with home made motors.

I gave the turbo's away cos in bike there is far to much problems with them.

the next turbo was a ACCO 1850g 8 tonne pantech with a perkins motor. that truck was a beaut.Later on had a 16 ltlr westen star turbo that spat out 550 hps. now listen to that turbo wind up was fantastic. When you easy the clutch brake snick high 3rd gear and gentle on the loud peddle, you can feel the chassis twist and 60 ton of "double " pull away you know what turbo's can do.

as for the zed its got no real rush but you can idle awayt on the express way ,hit the peddle and the car will spool up pretty quick and it will take off.

If you want acelleration and feel what it like to jump into warp speed. Buy a bike . A RG500 should scare the crap out of you.

Yep :D zcar91's Black TT about 4-5 years ago...

We took it for a run up the Federal highway in Canberra. :D ...It was the first zed I ever drove and it made my zed obsession even stonger...

(Even though I eventually ended up buying an NA)

    Agree....couple of years ago...>>

...was thinking of buying a second Zed only a TT. Couldnt find one suitable ie. meet with my expectations. Although took two for a test drive, they didnt really impress me, but I think they were a little below average.

I too grew up on bikes, although not turbos, but my current bike, a Kawasaki ZZR1100D2 standard except for an Over Racing Project exhaust, and jetted to match, can lift the front wheel in third at 100k's with surprising ease. Not bad for a 270kg bike. Although I have never tried, these bikes can pull low 11's to high 10's in standard trim.

When you can scare the tripe out of yourself on a bike, why do you need to do it in a car as well?

I'll stick to the NA, after all, its driving ability that counts eventually, not top speed.

    :thumbsup:GT

    Grenfel Something is missing...

    First times

The first time I road in a Turbo was my mates Maserati (222E - 2.8 V6 TT) and I was suitably impressed. I've ridden in V8s before and they felt so rough in getting the power down. The Maserati was as smooth as silk and then you glance at the speedo - "we're going how fast?!? But we just took off!"

The first turbo I drove was Luig's Zed and then zed4life's. Both excellent fun (I think I broke my leg on Mark's clutch though), one thing I will give autos is that you just put your foot on the go pedal and enjoy the ride... Before that I'd always been a manual man (still am really).

    My first turbo drive....

was in a 260Z 2+2 Auto, fitted with an HKS Turbo. It was on sale at Brookvale, NSW for $8000 (back in 1975). I took it for a drive up a very steep hill at the back of Manly Golf Club, and the bloody thing kept wheel-spinning all the way to the top! MAGIC!
Then the NRMA quoted me $4000 pa for insurance, and I lost interest quicker than this beast could accellerate.
Next was 1986, in a Cordia GSR Turbo ( the one Vern Schuppen drove to victory, in the 1985 Adelaide GP Celebrity Race), I bought this one, and still have it (320,000Kms of everyday use before it needed a rebuild). Great little car, but no brakes what-so-ever.
Now a Z32 TT 2+2 Manual, bought it in 2000(I may not be around for long, but while I'm still here, I'll be travelling fast, and in style.):thumbsup::zlove::zlove::zlove:
